Um, instead it has pretty much been the holy grail of toys for her. She won't let go of what she calls her beloved "sweeper" - we practically have to rip it from her hands and hide it from her in the morning to get her out the door, to much tears and flailing of limbs. The broom is the biggest hit out of them all, but she uses each of the cleaning toys at times. I have her on video manically chanting "sweeper and mop!!" while pounding them both into the floor in mimicry of sweeping and mopping. She climbs up on the couch with "sweeper" to watch cartoons. She tries to hold on to it while eating dinner (nice try, kid, but no dice). She runs away from us when it's bedtime, maybe partially because she doesn't want to go to bed, but probably 90% because she can't bring the dang broom into her crib with her.
I am completely stumped as to why this tiny version of cleaning implements brings her so much joy, but I've stopped questioning it and have begun accepting the fact that I'm saying things to my daughter like "only 5 more minutes of sweeping the floor, honey," and "if you don't listen to Mommy, you'll have to put 'sweeper' away."
The handles are made of real wood and are quite sturdy, the storage stand is well-crafted and has little notches to hang the brooms/mops from (and also doubles as a pretend microphone stand for a toddler), and the bristles are soft and sturdy. My husband actually used the broom and dustpan to clean our entryway when he couldn't find our "real" broom one night before company was coming over.
The only downside was watching the disappointed face of her grandmother when our daughter completely ignored grandma's present of a little dollhouse in favor of waving her broom all over the place. Sorry, grandma! :-/
My only issue is that I wish it had something I could use to stick the base to the floor or mount it somewhere because my daughter loves to pick up the base and beat the floor with it (the base has a bit of weight which makes it very durable which is a curse and blessing in this case lol) .... and occasionally our cat lol. I had to take the base away for safety reasons and I bought a plastic toy box where she can store them but if the base was stuck to the floor with adhesive or if it could just have a bracket attachment so it could be mounted along the wall I think that would be awesome. I plan to try and find some strong adhesive (that wont damage my wood floor) that I can put on the bottom so I can allow her to use the base again.
Overall, I think this is a great toy and I
1) it does not have a heavy base (I believe to prevent it from hurting a child during a game of pretend sword fighting), and this makes it topple VERY easy anytime they put the items on or take them off of the rack.
2) as others have mentioned, the screw in the bottom. While this hasn’t been an issue on our wood floors, what was an issue was the mop getting attached to some Velcro. My husband had to yank so hard that it pulled the plastic piece right off. We still couldn’t get the Velcro and mop detached so we had to cut them apart. He then had to rescrew the bottom of the mop together again. Luckily, our children are so young (3 and 1), that they don’t notice.
3) the dustpan doesn’t get flush with the floor like a regular dust pan. I have a relatively cheap broom and dust pan set that work better than this.
All of this aside, because they love this SO much, I would purchase it again. However, if you don’t live with Mr. Clean - you may want to look elsewhere for a more quality set.

So I looked for some smaller versions he could use.
This set is great, the way they hook onto the stand causes him to knock the whole thing over (he is one and seems very excited by cleaning, god I hope that lasts!) and it is a shame the dustpan only fits with the broom., not the dust brush. But other than that they are great.
Like all the Malissa & Doug products we have tried so far, they seem well thought out, and well designed with a classic twist. A little expensive, perhaps, but only the test of time will prove if it was worth it.
The mop is constructed in a way that could scratch delicate wood floors (see attached photo). This could be corrected by adding a round piece of felt to the bottom of the mop head if a person wanted too. I may cut it off and attach a real mop head to it when my daughter is old enough to mop.
Our daughter is less then the recommended 3 year age but this item does not contain any small parts aside from the strings that attach the tools to the rack.

I got wooden ones as this is preferred over plastic, but the review is only 3 stars due to the price. £30 is very expensive for this type of toy.
