This is a great puzzle - and the price is pretty much unbeatable. But honestly, I wish I had gone for the pricier one that don't have pegs in the pieces. First - the pegs might it pretty difficult for the younger toddlers to use - they have trouble getting the pieces back in since they swivel a bit as their trying to put them down. Yes this does mean they're working on their motor skills while playing with this - but I bought this to help my son learn the alphabet, he has loads of other toys that help him with motor skills. Right now he gets very frustrated with it since he can't put the pieces in all by himself (which of course is a necessity for some toddlers). The other thing - these pieces are very small - which makes sense (it's a lot of pieces to fit into a board!) - but that means that you will probably end up with pieces on the floor...and if you don't notice them while walking around barefoot you definitely will when you step on that peg (not very fun!).

The quality isn't fantastic - but it's obviously designed to be an economical option that just about anyone can afford - so for this price it's definitely not lacking in that department. But I have had a chance to play with the alphabet art version of this at my sons doctors office - the quality is noticeably better (and the pieces have no pegs) - but of course it's also twice the price. Still debating whether or not I'll buy a new one or just make do with this one...we'll see.

My 3 year old daughter loves this puzzle! She started only knowing a handful of letters, but we do it together once a week or so (while her older brother is at his gymnastics class) and now she knows almost all the letters! I do wish they would have chosen different pictures for some of the letters though. She says the I for insect is a bug...I wish they would’ve used ice cream instead. The D for duck looks like a white swan, so that’s a bit confusing for her. And why in the world did they use Q for quail and not a queen? My 3 year old doesn’t know what a quail is! And then for X obviously they don’t have many choices for words to use, but my daughter says it’s a hand and doesn’t seem to understand that it’s an x ray of a hand. So there is room for improvement, but overall it has been a helpful teaching tool for us.

Purchased for my just turned 2 year old child . I looked hard to find a simple lower case puzzle. Oddly most seemed to be capital letters which I found strange as they need to learn lower case first. She can sing the alphabet but doesn't recognise the actual letters yet, although she loves puzzles these don't fit tightly so she finds it a challenge.
It can be used for learning in many ways. So is a good learning tool for different stages as they progress. You could start by just pointing at the letters singing the alphabet. Under each letter is a picture of the item that it begins with. Eg 'a' has an apple... you can point to the picture and say what's that? When they say apple you can say that's right so that starts with a... And then help find the letter and so on. They soon pick it up. My child sometimes just likes to just play picking up random letters and say "which letter is this?" It's really helping her learn.
