Perfect!
The only thing I would change about this product is the number of cups! This set comes with four cups- blue, red, yellow, and green. My son loves to match colors (puts the right color brush in the right color cup), so I know he would love to have more color options, but the cups do the job very well! It's very convenient to pour the colors you want into the cups, and then later you can just put the caps back on and paint again later! We are using these cups with the Melissa and Doug easel and they work great. I guess we'll just have to pour purple, orange, or pink paint in the wrong color cup!

I am obsessed with these cups!!! I think they are just so clever and innovative! I just absolutely love them! I bought them for my 2 yr old who just loves to paint for hours on daily basis, and having to constantly take out constantly different kind of containers and dirty them up and clean them up and having them spill everywhere all the time ALL over my house just wasn't cutting it anymore! So I though there had to be a solution so I found these on Amazon, and within minutes made the purchase- I did not hesitate because I loved the idea of these cups and Melissa & Doug hardly disappoints me. Well, when I received these in the mail I loved them even more!!!! I was very impressed with their quality, they are very sturdy and not flimsy or cheap at all- phenomenal durable quality! And OMG- these are dishwasher safe - how clever is that! I love it when companies try to make our lives a little easier- so how thoughtful of them! :)

First of all I love their size- they are perfect not too small not to big, they hold a descent amount of paint so my daughter can really paint for few hrs and the cup will last her that one day, even if not the 2nd day--- and yes she can use the same cup the next day because these bad boys have snap on lids on them for an air tight seal- so the paint can stay there and be safe without completely drying out or spilling....and if they do dry up (depending on the consistency of the paint mixture you made) I just add some water to bring it back to life- so no biggy.

These cups have a very clever design that when they tip over they don't spill everywhere- what a life saver!!! I love that these are 4 different colors so that we can put the paint color that coordinates with the color of the cup. These cups also go very well with the Melissa & Doug Jumbo Paint Brushes (set of 4)--- and you coordinate the colors of the brushes with the paint cups as well. My daughter is 2 yrs old so she loves to coordinate things now- so that a little fun learning/educational aspect of the product as well.

Over all I adore these cups and recommend them for everyone to grab a set for their little artists! I will definitely buy another set for grandparents house when they go visit- especially considering their price I can afford to have 2 sets!

 UPDATE: I have had these for 7 years now and they still work as well as the first day I got them. None of my kids have managed to break them.

I purchased this set of four paint cups after being dissatisfied with a set of 10 paint cups made by Chenille Kraft. While the Melissa and Doug paint cups are more expensive (1.88 vs. 1.12 each)they are also much higher quality.

Pros:
- screw on lid will not pop off
- cap makes airtight seal that keeps paint from drying out!
- slightly larger volume

Cons:
- more expensive than competitors

I was very unsatisfied with the design and construction of the Chenille Kraft paint cups. The snap on lids didn't all fit right and the caps didn't make an airtight seal which lead to the paint drying out. They are cheap, but you will only want to use them if you are going to clean them out after each use.

The Melissa and Doug paint cups have a solid design and construction. This means that I can store paint in the cups until it is used up. You don't have to worry about the lids popping off when they are dropped or squeezed. Great product.

With these paint cups I use Crayola Artista II Washable Tempera Paint and the Chenille Kraft Preschool Paint Brush Assortment (I have reviewed those products too). They are a great combination. I buy the paint in the 16oz bottles here on Amazon; you get a lot of paint for the money. My kids love the assortment of 24 brushes from Chenille Kraft and you can have a big and a small brush for each color of paint so you don't have to worry about washing them out until the end. It is hours of fun!

Bought these because my granddaughter loves to paint but is still little and a bit clumsy so I wanted something that was sturdy and would last, these are great! I looked at a lot of spill proof cups and these are the best!! They are wide enough so they sit very sturdy the lids screw on and off easily and they have a good size hole to fit even larger paint brush handles my granddaughter had no priblem putting her brushes into the cup to get paint and they didn’t topple over they are very generous in size and hold a lot of paint and if they do fall over the paint does not spill out! Also one of the best features is it has the screw on cap but then it comes with a flat lid that goes over it that snaps to keep leftover paint from drying out! No more wasted paint! I put these lids on and they t kept the paint fresh for over 2 weeks! I was so impressed I bought 2 packages of these and the cost was well worth it now I don’t cringe when my granddaughter wants to paint!
