I was very happy to stumble onto this activity. The kids like the bright pictures and bands and I like the chance to work on several skills in one activity including fine motor, visual perceptual, and problem solving. The only complaint that I would have is that there is no place to store the bands. I keep them in a Ziplock bag and sometimes they get separated from the board. I have ended up rubber banding the bag of bands to the board. I like many of Melissa and Doug products, but they often come in packaging that does not allow for practical storage, and for that reason I sometimes pass on them. This one was too fun and therapeutic to pass on.

I bought this for my son who is about to turn five. He is very bright but he is having trouble with his pencil grip so I wanted to see if we could work on his fine motor skills with this toy. I wasn't sure he'd like it since he really isn't much into art or crafty things at all. I thought he might try one picture and either get frustrated or think it was boring. I was pleasantly surprised! He didn't think it was boring at all. And it is challenging for him without being too frustrating. Major bonus points there because he normally gets frustrated with things like this pretty easily. This toy is holding his interest very well! We've only had it out for a day and he has been through about 7 of the patterns and he still isn't bored of it (he has come back to it several times during the day). He needed help at first but slowly he is becoming more independent. And each time he completes a picture he is very proud. I also have 7 and 10 year old daughters who think this is a cool toy. And my 2 year old also likes to fool with it, but she will need to wait a year at least to really make good use out of it. Great toy and well worth the list price of $20 but it is cheaper than that here on amazon. coming back to edit review after a month of having the toy... it is still fun for the kids. they are all still enjoying it, even after the huge influx of Christmas gifts.

Before purchasing, I read reviews that were concerned about the cards not fitting in easily - I can't say I've had that problem. I am teaching my children to be patient and take care of their things and we've had no trouble. The bands are brilliant - I thought they would be rubber bands, but they're more like hair ties - fabric coated elastic. There are clear markings about which size and colour to use, and both my 3 year old and 6 year old are really enjoying the challenge. It's also great work for building dexterity and coordination.

These were a GREAT find! The bands are nice and sturdy and so is the board. The photos are a slightly flimsy for little ones - easy to tear. I think I'm going to laminate them for extra measure. The best thing about this board is that the pegs are mushroom capped - so the bands DO NOT continuously slide & pop off and frustrate your little one. Like I said AWESOME!!!

We bought this to take on a road trip and it was a wonderful distraction in the car. My four children (ages 4-8) loved it! The only complaint I have is that the cards are hard to squeeze in and out of the geoboard housing. The cards easily bent on the edges and seemed to be in rough shape after just one trip. Also, the storage of all of the cards in the geoboard is almost impossible. Even without the cards, the kids had a blast making up their own designs. I would still recommend it for sure.

This is an excellent geoboard that will grow with the development of your child. This frame is well built, the pegs on the board are easy to loop the fabric covered rubber bands over. The picture cards slide in and out easily. The pictures are clear, and vibrant. I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 4 years old, and all the children (2-10) enjoy playing with it. There are blank cards for children to create their own pictures. Not only does this provide a great opportunity for fine motor development, but we use this in math (homeschool) to demonstrate perimeter, area and multiplication grouping.

This is great for building fine motor strength. Love the multiple levels of difficulty and the clear page to draw your own designs or letters or shapes. Bands are strong and brightly colored, they maintain their shape and do not stretch out. My son loves to create his own designs. Would love packaging to store the bands. The pictures store in the board but I had to use a tupperware for the bands.

This is a good toy, don't get me wrong... and the kids play with it about as much as they play with other manufactured plastic toys. One problem is that the cards don't all fit into the wooden frame well, and have started bending and tearing after only a year of light play. This is not normal for toys in my house, because my kids are really gentle. So there's that. Otherwise, it's a good toy, they certainly like it. I just figure that a painted wooden board with nails half way hammered into it, and a ball of string or some rubber bands would do just as well, if not better... the cards are not really all that necessary, and the fact that they don't fit well sometimes takes the fun out of the play session. So.... eh.
