Product description
The Melitta name has stood for passion and quality for over 100 years. In 1908, Melitta filters and drip coffee were founded by a housewife in Minden, Germany. Melitta Bentz was in search of a better way to make a cleaner cup of coffee. So she punched holes in a brass pot and used a piece of paper to create a two-part filtration system. She put the pot on a cup, filled it with ground coffee and poured in hot water. The coffee filter and drip coffee were born. More than 100 years later, Melitta Bentz's innovation remains the precursor to all modern pour-over and drip coffee brewing worldwide.

Update- found you can also use regular carafe filters, not only are they cheaper but the Melitta ones sometimes separate at the bottom seam and drop grounds into my coffee.
Simply put, it's wonderful! Easy to use, easy to clean (dishwasher top rack, or just rinse in hot water), and it makes great coffee. I have several manual and automatic coffee makers, I grind my own beans, and I make a lot of coffee; but sometimes all I want is a cup at a time. I suppose a Keurig would do this for me, but why bother when the Melitta system lets me tailor the blend and strength to exactly what I want? Heat water in a saucepan or kettle (or a Pyrex measuring cup in the microwave), then pour it over grounds in the filter. Toss the filter afterward, rinse the cone and you're done. I've been using the Melitta for several years, and love it.
A bonus: if you like cold-brew coffee as I do, and don't6 want to bother with a specialized cold brew device, just make it in a screw-lid jar and filter it through the Melitta after 12 to 24 hours brewing in the fridge. I do this A LOT.
Will m'lady find her new Melitta as useful as I do? Probably not, at least at first. But she lives alone and seldom has more than a couple of cups of coffee per day; after I told her about mine, she decided it might be better than using her drip-maker for such small batches.

I’ve used it camping quite a bit too!
1. get coffee cup
2. add powdered coffee creamer
3. add sweet packet
4. put coffee cone brewer on top of coffee cup
5. squish open cone coffee filter and put inside cone brewer
6. add ground coffee beans (we love French Roast Medium-Dark Roast Ground Coffee) - it's best to find a little scooper that gives you the best strength YOU DESIRE for the size of your COFFEE CUP then use both every time for best and quickest results.
7. POUR (read below) AND STIR -- here's your "STIR-TIP"; after cup has about 1/4 coffee, carefully lift cone brewer (can still be dripping) and stick in your spoon and stir your powdered creamer & powdered sweetner so is smooth and not "blobs".
7.5 Now pour your hot water from your kettle (we are in love with the clear electric kettle with the blue light right now) --- this sounds like the "easy part" BUT IT IS NOT. My husband loves this part and takes his time to slowly wet all the grounds and pour in water bit-by-bit...smell is incredible and the BEST COFFEE WE HAVE EVER HAD! (My method is wet grounds with one or two BIG POURS....no, definitely not as good as my husbands'.) Take like a minute to pour water slowly while wetting all grounds and in about 1 minute you will have the best aromatic coffee ever. Best part? TAKES NO SPACE ON THAT LIMITED COUNTER SPACE!!!
