Blog postTo all the fathers out there, today is your day!
To everyone else, make sure those guys know just how special they are.
I was always close to my father, and since he passed away, I truly do miss him. Yes, I know I have memories, but it’s not like sharing a cup of coffee in the morning, or talking about trees in the woods.
Wishing you a wonderful and relaxing day, from everyone on Esperance, Gambler’s Folly, and the Cote d’Or!
And as always,

Blog postPhoto by Fabio Partenheimer on Pexels.com No, I mean the other kind. We are in the middle of a heat wave down here in the South. It feels like we went from late April to late August all in about a week. We don’t usually have temperatures in the high 90’s until much later in the year.
But about that summer heat…

Blog postIf you’re like me, you like to read. And the fact that you are here says you do as well.
But sometimes, it’s easier to listen.
Did you know I have the first two books from the Esperance series available in audio? You can go over to Amazon and order them, or get them from Audible.
The reason I’m asking is that I’ve been considering narrating some of my own books. They won’t be as good as the first two, but I know a lot of people who love audio books. While I have no pro3 weeks ago Read more -
Blog postAnd with June comes summer and all the lovely things which go with it–family gatherings, Barbecues, beach trips, hanging out around the pool.
And that means a lot more sun.
If you’re looking for something a little different, something a little more natural for your skin this summer, go over and check out the L’Bri products. A friend of mine introduced them to me a few years ago and my daughter and I fell in love with them. With aloe vera gel instead of alcohol, they truly are3 weeks ago Read more -

Blog postMemorial Day weekend definitely signals the arrival of summer, whether Mother Nature agrees or not. Of course, our daytime temperatures have been in the 80’s this week, even if the nights have been chilly.
But with the arrival of summer, we’re spending more time outside around the pool, having BBQ’s, walking and hiking. And that means sunburn, unless we take some precautions.

Blog postOne question I am asked often is where I get my ideas. Most people think I get all my ideas the same way, I suppose. But this isn’t the case.
Take Jareth, First Lord.
This particular story began with a dream. But the dream didn’t begin with the opening scene of the book. I wouldn’t have paid any attention to it, except it kept recurring for several nights. In order to make it go away, I wrote it down.
The next few nights, I dreamed a different scene from the story. Aga1 month ago Read more -

Blog postAre you superstitious?
I know a lot of people have a thing about Friday the 13th. Our daughter claims it is her luckiest day of the year.
As I write fantasy romance, with a paranormal twist, I suppose I’m not particularly inclined to care one way or the other. After all, there are a lot of thirteens that aren’t negatives.
In the meantime, I’m getting ready to publish Book 4 in my Esperance series. I know I’ve written here about it before, so I won’t bore you with the d2 months ago Read more -

Blog postMore and more people are trying to follow their doctor’s and dietitian’s advice and eat more veggies. But they just don’t like some foods. Kale and Brussel sprouts are among the top contenders for foods people hate.
It could be the way they’ve been cooked. I love kale, but only the way I work with it. Brussel sprouts are pretty much the same.
Let me share my thoughts on Kale, spinach, assorted greens, and Brussel sprouts.

Blog postThe three book series, Esperance, will soon be joined by a fourth book–Too Many Talents.
How about a little background?
The world I call Esperance was settled during a very disturbed time on Earth. People with a particular remote viewing ability sought new worlds to colonize, as it seemed Earth might not survive. On this new world, these individuals, called Seekers, also helped discover minerals for mining concerns, new food which could be used by the new settlers, and many ot2 months ago Read more -
Blog postDid you ever just look at someone and say, “He looks like a wolf, or bear, or a big cat?”
Maybe it’s just me. I know. I’m weird. Nothing new there.
But that’s how The Russian began, from seeing someone who instantly reminded me of a wolf. Of course my mind then took hold of the idea and began to wonder what sort of person he would be as a wolf shifter. And so it began.

Blog postWhy is it so hard to say goodbye?
Fogg, one of the kitties we’ve had for twelve years, passed away Sunday night after a brief illness. He seemed fine, then was off his food for a little bit, and then just gave up and crossed over. As hard as it can be, sometimes we have to say goodbye.
But on the same weekend, we had another arrival–a little eight week old puppy who is just starting out. We don’t have a name for him yet, but he is a cute little thing.

Blog postFrom what I have seen in this world, there are a lot of things we can’t explain. Things which seem to defy logic and science.
Coming from a family which converted to a rather fundamentalist approach to life, our leaders taught that most of those things were evil spirits–demons if you like–trying to pull us away from God. And giving them any thought was only inviting evil into your life.
Now, my family has had what we would call psychics today in several generations. On both si3 months ago Read more -
Blog postOr is it?
Yesterday I was grocery shopping and saw they had garden plants out at Kroger and the DIY store next door. So I spent a few minutes looking at what they had. Eventually, aside from one little pot of rosemary, I chose to wait.
And I’m glad I did.
After yesterday’s temperatures up in the high 70’s (Fahrenheit), it was in the 30’s when we got up this morning. And the last I heard about tomatoes, they like heat and sunshine.

Blog postAt least it keeps hinting at spring down here in the Georgia woods. The daffodils have bloomed and gone, the little hyacinths have come out, and the trees are starting to think about leaves.
And that leads me to gardening. We all know that fresh is best. Down here it’s time to start planting early crops, like kale, cabbage, and peas. With any luck, it won’t suddenly become summer and bake everything this year like it has a couple of years.

Blog postAnd it has been quite a time.
Earlier last year, I managed to pull the muscles and tendons in my foot and calf. There went my nice long walks for a while. But with summer coming on, things got busy.
Then came autumn, with multiple weddings and birthdays, along with the bridal showers, and all that goes with a garden wedding.
So, things were healing up nicely until my husband and I went to lunch. As my foot hit something in the parking lot of the restaurant, my still we5 months ago Read more -

At least part of your weight loss problems could be non-physical. That’s right. Way back when, we our bodies developed a way to hold on to weight during times of hardship and famine. Certain conditions triggered a response automatically.

Danni is terrified as the gang members close in around her on her way home from her mother's apartment. But strong warm hands settle on her shoulders, and a deep voice commands the group to disperse. Woodsy, spicy scent swirls around her as the tall man with ice blue eyes asks if she is all right.
No, she has too much to do to even consider dating, even if his scent is calling her to do much more.
But the universe has something else waiting for them on Gambler's Folly.
Angela wished for someone to ask her out occasionally. She wasn't sure she wanted a serious relationship, but a date now and then would be nice. But the arrogant off-worlder sitting at the other end of the table was not the one for her. How dare he speak to her that way?
Walking in the olive grove, the two of them meet again, and when they kiss, sparks fly and things nearly get out of hand. But how can they possibly be mates? Besides, she is training as a healer and has another year of study. His work is on Gambler's Folly, and he'll be leaving in two weeks to go home.
They'll be fine. Really.
Won't they?

On top of that, her brother Carl demands his right to face his accusers at his trial for treason, a bad idea with Viviane’s out of control talents. And as emotional as she will be at the trial, it is anybody’s guess what will happen when the pressure in the court begins to rise.
But if her days of struggling for control are frustrating, her nights with Jareth are exhilarating as the two of them discover and explore the deeper levels of intimate pleasure possible between two talented people.
Viviane, First Lady—the story continues.
When he went to her rescue, James fell in love with this tiny young woman, with hair of midnight and eyes like the sea.
How can he win the heart of the woman he loves when she won’t even accept an invitation for tea? And if she does become interested, can she accept those things which set his family apart?
Viviane, a young widow, is praying for an answer as she struggles to survive on her own after her husband’s death. The other option is to move back home, with her father, First Lord Herrick, of Clan Brannach. She is desperate for another option, for as the youngest daughter of the house, she can never be her own person there. Her prayers are answered when Jareth comes seeking justice for crimes against her clan. Hiding her true identity, she hopes to make a break with her past when she is chosen as part of the spoils.
Imagine her dismay when she discovers Jareth hopes to make her first lady of his clan.
