I was very excited to purchase this- however it has been disappointing experience.1) Often times I see error message “vat not detected”. Only solution is reset entire mellow2) CustomerCare is bad, responds only after few business days3) often time temperature drops, and prepare uncooked food and it says your food is ready4) concept is good, however it failed miserably. I bought it at 399 and now prices have fallen to 298 - a clear proof product is not doing well.5) finally it is over simple - at least one button to turn on and off. I don’t want it to go refrigerated mode all the time by default6) in hot countries room temperature goes above 79 easily, and that is quite ok with us with ceiling fan running. However mellow stops workingOverall disappointing- hopefully they upgrade and launch a more reliable product and customer serviceThanks

Mellow works perfectly fine for cooking. I have owned the device for about a month now and everything turns out great. However! I DO NOT recommend this for anyone looking to get a sous vide machine.
First, the design for the water tank make it impossible to clean. If your bag breaks during cooking or any seasoning falls into the water, it will get stuck under the metal grill at the bottom of the tank. You cannot remove the metal piece to clean it without voiding your warranty, so once that happens the water tank will always smell.
Second, their customer service is AWFUL. They will simply ignore emails and stop responding for issues they caused. If you are purchasing this $400 device, expect no support or service if something happens. There are alternatives device for cheaper with actual customer service. Don't support this company!

We cooked frozen halibut and salmon from Costco. Both turned out delicious (exceeded my expectations). The frozen fish actually tasted like it was freshly caught, Moist and full of flavour. Mellow takes all of the guess work out of cooking; from starting frozen to cooking to perfection and on time. Best of all, All controlled from your phone. Mellow is so easy to use it walks you through the set up process. I have recommended Mellow to all of our friends. Their device is perfect for people who work or retirees who are busy all day having fun as you can put your meat/fish in Mellow in the morning and it will keep it cold until the program Tells it to start cooking. Ingenious!

I've been using my Mellow for some time now. I have two major complaints about it. First, if their servers are down, which does happen, the device is completely useless, as there are no manual controls, and you can only use the device through wifi by going through their servers, even if you are standing right next to it. Second, they just started trying to sell me access to the recipes and cooking history that they billed as a free service and that every other manufacturer of water circulators gives away for free. In my mind, this is a completely unacceptable and unethical business practice. You can't trust this company. Buy a different water circulator.

The app walked is through everything and it turned out amazing. As soon as I cracked open that bag my whole family perked up to that wonderful aroma. Can't wait for dinner tomorrow! My boyfriend and I both own Mellows and were disappointed about the change that now includes a subscription to use the product. He contacted Mellow and was essentially told that this subscription was a last-ditch effort to save the company. That the cost on Mellow's end to run their technology is more than they're making. Essentially, if this doesn't work, we will all be owning $200 hunks of plastic that won't work AT ALL. So, Mellow definitely dropped the ball in the PR department by making this change without explaining why (still waiting on that email, Mellow), but had they have explained why, I would have gladly paid the subscription fee rather than owning essentially a $200 brick. (That being said, purchase a new one at your own risk...who knows if the company will be around much longer)

Other notes - I have had my Mellow about six months and have loved it. It does what it says. Food comes out delicious every time. Definitely has helped my family eat healthier on a regular basis. Subscription fees: First 30 days are free, then $5.99/month; $15/3 months; $47.99 annually.

Product worked great but now you have to pay a monthly subscription to use most of the advertised features. You can no longer schedule food to cook at a certain time or use recipes (including ones you created). You can still manually start cooling or cooking. My friend had issues with his Mellow, the tank was leaking, and he had a horrible time trying to contact support and getting a warranty repair (he eventually gave up). Unless they allow you to schedule your own recipes without a subscription I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
