That being said, these are going to fulfill their purpose for a bacon-themed party. They'll be in demand I suspect, and are quite whimsical and fun. Are they worth the nearly $2 per? No, not really. But I also don't feel like I was really ripped off or anything.
I mean, we're talking about a bacon flavored lollipops after all. Until we invest more government funding into perfecting bacon lollipops and less into the military budget, I don't think we'll ever have the bacon lollipops the American public needs or deserves!
Ithese lollies are fun and high quality, with their wavy bacon shape and their nice wooden sticks. The gift pack is a simple, unusual gift idea for someone who has everything.
It's a one-time treat for me. I enjoyed the whimsy. However, I did not dig their taste. And of course the taste is what brings you back for more!
I strongly disliked the barbeque bacon lolly. I like sweet barbeque sauce, but not this sweet. Maybe because I'm a Texan? The flavors were clashing, and sweetness was winning.
Actually I thought they were *all* too sweet. Their sweetness overrode any actual flavor. I could only really distinguish between maple and honey be closely inspecting their color while held up to a light. The bacon bits sprinkled throughout were rubbery and rather flavorless, like chewing a piece of corrugated cardboard.
If you *do* like the taste, you'll be pleased to know that they are nice big lollies that will last you quite awhile. They are so long it's like two on one stick. They are cute and unusual and would make great treats for your next cookout or for keeping in the office break room. The 6 piece gift pack would be a neat Father's Day gift.
I'm hunting for a more satisfying, more bacony, and specifically mapley bacony, candy. I am about to try Man Bait maple bacon lollipops and am eyeing some baon/chocolate combinations.
Nothing beats bacon hot off the griddle, of course! (I cook mine with lime juice. They get wondfully crispy and the saltiness and lime go great together.)
Nobody I shared these with enjoyed them at all.
