Memoirs of a Murderer is a memoir of the life of frontman David Gunn set to the backdrop of Flint, MI. Cut to a crackling old tape recorder, Gunn's narrative eclipses three distinct movements, traveling from a very real place down a rabbit hole into the abstract. The three movements align with Freud's psychoanalytic theory of personality, in which the three elements of personality - known as the id, the ego and the superego - work together to create complex human behaviors.
These are David Gunn’s Memoirs, chilling and starkly poetic, introspective and brutally honest. Keep this in mind as you listen to these tapes.

That said, the album itself is pretty cool. At first blush it seems like it's going to be a Slipknot clone, all downbeats and yelling vocals. But as the album progresses, the first thing I notice is the singer has an amazing voice, when he isn't yelling (not that his yelling voice is bad, it just isn't very original). There's at least one song that evokes Tom Waits or Nick Cave, and a number of inflections used throughout which illustrate an amazing command of his vocal cords; I almost wonder if he had professional training.
As for the music, there are times when it does feel too Slipknotty, the downbeats just chugging away, but just when I'm starting to get bored they do something different; I haven't checked the total running time, but it is quite long and by the time you get to the end you realize there is quite a bit of variety to it.
My feeling is there is great potential with this band. I get the sense this is exactly the product they are aiming for, so don't imagine they are likely to change the formula, but this band could be truly awesome if they channeled some of the bravado into more creativity, emphasizing the vocals and a little less repetitive chugging in the riffs.
Give this band a chance, they are a breath of fresh air to the metal community. Simple riffs, straight up beat down metal mixed with dark and eerie imagery. I also like the way the album was recorded. It was mixed perfectly for this type of music. Since I bought this album I cant stop listening to it. Big fan of what these guys are doing..get this album. Next step is to see them live. King come to new york!

I had no idea what this would be like when I got it. It was an eye opener to a culture I am nowhere near.
It is good. As an aside the band are OK live but the songs and brooding came over better on the album.
For those that compare them to Slipknot are ignorant. King 810 are unique and nothing out there sounds anything like them and vice versa.
Love the album and the band
