These cases are much like the standard ones which you get when you buy most pre-recorded DVD's. They are very durable and designed to hold two discs, a real advantage for saving space. But sometimes the DVD's will come loose inside even when the discs appeared to be "locked" securely in place. I have also had this problem with many other cases provided with most DVD's which I think are of decent quality. The discs will snap in place and they usually will remain in place, but not always. I would recommend these Memorex cases over many others, however, since they are larger and may offer more protection than the clear slim ones, which don't have much material surrounding the disc.

The thing that seperates this DVD Case from the rest is it's center lock design. It's secures the disc nicely without damaging it... like I have had others do. Worth the extra dough to have a quality product. (Now if only their memorex's software was as good!)

I bought this dvd case a few months ago from Amazon and was very pleased with it. I came back several months later and ordered it again but when i received my package, i noticed one thing; the title 'Twin Dvd Case' written ontop of the dvd's white package was in another language. I thought nothing of it but when i opened it up and looked in the dvd case itself, i saw the difference;...the patented tab that Memorex claims is so great.

Originally when i ordered this months ago, the tab that holds the dvds in place was a simple circle shape hold, and it held the dvds in place quite firmly. This new patented tab, which looks similar to the tab on a Coke can, DOES NOT hold the dvds in place well at all. Especially when moving the dvd cases around. I was so disappointed, as i thought i had finally found a brand that i liked. I promptly returned this to Amazon, and found the ones i had bought here before at my local 'Staples store'. The way to tell if you're buying the ones with the patented flimsy tab, is that on top of the package, the title 'Twin Dvd Case' is written in another language, as opposed to English!

Beware, the patented tabs are horrible!

OK 2-disc cases, but not what I expected. A holder on each side, rather than a center holder for disc 2, thus no clips for literature, etc., such as scenes card. Description should point this problem out, maybe have an additional picture showing this problem (a problem at least for those people expecting the clips).

Memorex Twin DVD Cases are of the normal 14mm width, VHS height style typically supplied with commercial DVD releases, and store one disc in each half of the case. They are made of black polypropylene, with a clear plastic cover for a label insert. The package of ten cases arrived in good condition. There was a slight odor, not unusual with freshly molded polypropylene, but it should dissipate within a few days with the case exposed to air. The currently-supplied (c. June 2011) cases are claimed to have a "customized friction-free storage hub" which, according to the package is needed because the DVD manufacturing process "does not bond the center of the DVD" making the discs easily damaged at the center hole. There are many different designs for the center spindle; this one has a tab with a hook for the DVD on one end, and the other has two very thin legs to the case to provide the spring action. I've added a picture of this detail to the product listing. The tab has to move some distance to release the disc, bending those thin legs, and while they look fragile, other designs with fatter supports usually have a very thin section in the plastic, also subject to breakage. Spreading the spring action along a longer, if thin piece of material seems like a good idea, though the tab seemed lacking in retaining force. I found that dropping the case edge down, four feet onto a thin carpet caused the disc to come loose, though there was no damage to the case. So without additional packing inside the case, not suitable for a trip through the mail, though the discs should stay in place in normal handling. The cases seem to be well made, and the tab is not likely to damage the center hole area of the disc. For normal storage use I wouldn't hesitate in buying more of these cases, though the design of the tab could be improved.

These cases are what the DVD cases USED to be. Before they resorted to using the cheap, flimsy recycled crap. I understand people want to be environmentally friendly...but the recycled cases are super flimsy. I can't imagine it protecting the discs very well, except maybe from dust. I ordered a few of these to replace the cases that came with the close-out movies Blockbuster sold before closing stores. If you want your discs better protected, this is definitely the route to go.

The plastic is better than with the Chinese products (both the black and the clear). The product was well packaged and received with no damage. There are two center posts for adding a carrier, but it is not compatible with the Chinese products (at least the one I tried). The spacing is a little smaller than the spacing on the chinese product (i.e. distance between posts). But if you can find the carriers to fit you can convert these to quad disc cases.
