I've been using a few dual layer disk to back up my Xbox 360 games. These disks are pricey and nothing can be more devasting than a failed burned right? If you agree with me so far, then I'm sure you are just like me when you went to Amazon to look for the best deal. I'm sure you guys were scared like me when you saw the reviews people gave these products. I actually bought mine from Best Buy and after extensively burning dual layer, I can say that a lot of reviews about dual layer dvds are wrong because these disk, regardless of brand, do work. I can say without a doubt that a majority of problems people face are user error. It's weird but you have to, HAVE TO, burn these disk at slow speeds. ALL OF THEM TO GET 100% COPY or BURN! The best is 2X speed. Let me give you an example of my own experience. I burnt this one file using Verbatim dual layer at 6X speed. That DVD worked. I burnt a different file at 6X speed and it failed. I used these Memorex to burn the file that worked at 6X speed and it failed. I knew that file worked at 6X speed on the Verbatim disks and it had to be the disk. So I burnt it at a 2X speed and it worked. People, be patient and don't try to burn at the fastest speed. These are pricey dual layers and the best product is the finished product and unfortunately, you have to take your time when burning dual layers. Remember, THE FASTEST SPEED YOU CAN BURN IS 2X IF YOU WANT 100%!

I see a lot of bad reviews of these discs (most of the bad ones show up on the first page), however, it also looks like most of those bad reviews are from 2011 and prior. Maybe Memorex was making the discs differently back then, but I have not had any issues with these.

I like burning DVDs for my wife of all of our home movies, as well as pictures from our phones, and I used to use only 4GB discs, even though they worked great, there just wasn't enough space to put more than a handful of events on a disc so I went looking for an alternative. I found these discs at BestBuy for almost $50...and honestly that's ridiculous! I actually used Google Goggles to scan the barcode, and the first thing that happened is they popped up at more than half off, and free shipping via prime.

Needless to say, I purchased them from Amazon, and have not looked back. I've not not errors writing to these discs (using a Mac).

I would highly recommend them, especially if you're looking at burning movies to DVD for your family.

Initially I was not sure about ordering this blank disc set. For some reason there were always a good number of negative reviews for almost all dual layer disc sets available at Amazon. Ultimately price was the deciding factor and so I decided to go with Memorex. The very first disc I tried to burn got damaged after about 95% of the process. I was worried whether all the negative reviews were true. But from then I decreased the burning speed from 8X to 4X (though the disc says 8X) and now things couldn't be more perfect. Sure it takes 25 minutes to burn 8GB at 4X. But still no more burning errors so far and I burn these dual layer discs only once in a while so time consumed is not really an issue.

For the price, this is an unbelievable deal.

I've been using these Memorex DVD+DL in my Panasonic DVD recorder for years. No problem reading them or recording. The LG DVD burner in my computer reads them and burns them just fine too.

For a long time, Memorex was the only Double Layer option for me because of price. I never really had a hard time with the 2X discs burning on the Pioneer burners (DVR-110D and 111D) in most Macs. The new 8X discs are a completely different story. I've lost at least half of the discs. I switched from DragonBurn to Toast8, with improved results for a few burns, but then more "sense errors" a quarter to halfway through the burn. The reality is Memorex DL media is not preferred media for the Pioneer drives. It was never a problem till this new 8X batch. Buy at your own risk!

Family movies. I use these particular disk as part of my 3.2.1. back up of my family videos and pictures. It's really number 4. in the list because of the decay rate in long term storage. These are great for getting the videos and pictures out to the Grand parents to view on any standard DVD player using proper third party DVD authoring software. No need for sharing links, or consuming terrible amounts of bandwidth and easily and inexpensively shipped if need be.

We burn alot of videos, photos and documents we want to save and these DVDs have always worked so well. We have tried cheap DVD's and the quality isnt as good as Memorex, other dvds can have errors, but I have never had any problems at all with these so we make sure to always have them in stock in our home office. Very good product, very happy with my purchase.

We author over 15 DVDs a month that eventually are sent off to a replicator to make 1000+ copies. Before we send off our master, we need to proof the content for any issues. We will burn the proof copy to this dual layer media and watch it in our DVD players. Some older DVD players do have trouble reading from a burned dual layer disc and will get stuck during the layer break, however, we've only had a handful of failure in the thousands of discs we've burned over the last few years. I've switch to buying the 50 pack because you can save a little bit more per disc and we use so many of them.

I would recommend these any anyone who need to burn a disc for data backup or DVD authoring. Just be sure you test out one in your DVD player before you make too many in case your DVD player is too old to handle the layer break.
