Stereo image and channel ID check verifies left and right speaker setup. Polarity check verifies if positive and negative setup of stereo is correct. Sweep test verifies speaker operation. ProLogic imaging and channel ID check verifies optimal surround sound. System balance check adjusts speaker levels to optimum volume. Rattle test determines if vibrations exists. I own an older Sony DVD player (when they used to be around $250 gulp). I've been having problems playing DVD's...they kept skipping...especially DVD-Rs. I thought the problem was with the dics but as it turned out all it needed was a little cleaning. I did my research and trust me you can't beat this price. Works on CD players and DVD players only.

Beware that it does not work on computer CD-Roms as it will crush the little brushes.

I live in an older home, so it's often dusty. Add in smoke for fireplaces and over time DVD players can collect particles to mess with the super quality of DVD. This is easy to use and it really works. Had six teeny brushes that clean the heads. The program walked you through steps with very little responses from you, but also tests for things besides cleaning, like if you have you speakers hooked up to the proper channel.

I had no problems, worked as advertised.

My DVD player was ready to be thrown out, until I saw this product on amazon. My DVD player wouldn't even load a DVD. It kept saying "please check disc". After loading this disc, my DVD player has worked perfectly ever since. Don't spent $30 on one of these "clean up discs". This one does the job.

I tried to clean my Sony DVD Player / Recorder, no luck. The prompt: "Cannot read this DVD". Tried it on the DVD drive of my laptop and guess what: can't read it either. Manufacturer should specify for which types of players this works !

My DVD Player/Recorder was having problems recording. Some blank DVDs got the message "Cannot Record To This Disc" and some would record but have skips in the recording. The playback function was still OK. After using this cleaner once, there was a little improvement... but it still wasn't right. I ended up doing the cleaning function 4 times - and now the unit works just fine.

If your problem is stubborn, as mine was, you may need to use the cleaner several times back-to-back. But it made all the difference in the operation of this unit.

NOTE: Memorex recommends you use this product only 10 times... then replace it.

I bought this product for the purpose of cleaning the optical lens on my Samsung DVD player. When I put it in and closed the compartment, the machine rejected it completely. It said it couldn't read the disk. Thus, it didn't do what it was advertised to do. It wasn't expensive (thank goodness), but I have the same need to clean the optical lens of the DVD player I had before only now I've lost time and a small amount of money. If this product works for you, then I think that's great. And it might do that on newer models. I don't know. It did not work on my Samsung DVD player, which is about 4 years old.

I own a Sony 2001 SCD775 CD/SACD Player. Until recently it would play any burned CD's perfectly. During the last several months, it would refuse to recognize burned cd's at all most of the time. This problem seemed to be dirt, as burned cd's are more difficult to read than regular cd's. This Memorex CD/DVD Laser Lens cleaner worked quickly and restored my CD player to perfect working condition for burned and regular CD's. Give this CD cleaner a shot--it's definitely worth the money!
