I have limited storage space for what my kids tell me is an unnecessarily large DVD collection. (They don't seem to buy the explanation that I have a significantly longer history of watching movies than they do and therefore require a large and varied movie library.)
Replacing the original DVD cases with Memorex slim cases essentially doubles the storage space available. The cases are sturdy and actually much less likely to get squashed than the remarkably flimsy cases currently being used by distributors for most new DVDs.
Granted, if you want to use the cover art from the original case, it requires a bit of surgery -- about one quarter inch reduction in the width of the insert. That can be achieved by carefully folding the excess on one end or folding it equally on both ends -- or you can just snip it off and slide that cover art right into the slim case cover. If you gauge it just right, the spine of the slim case will display the movie title or at least part of it. I am told this reduces the resale value of the DVD but I don't have them because of their resale value. It doesn't seem to affect the quality of the DVDs when I watch them and watching them is why I have them.
As for the DVDs falling out of the slim case when it is opened, I have never had that happen. Once the DVD is snapped onto the hub, it stays there until someone releases it. This is a sturdy, space-saving case, available in "Cool Colors" or, for the more conservative collector, the more boring but just as well-made "clear".

I have used these for years. I used to purchase them from Best Buy, then Radio Shack and Office Depot, but they keep being discontinued as the few remaining retailers seem to turn into "Smart Phone Stores". Now even Memorex themselves have stopped selling to the public.
The best thing about these cases are as follows:
1. They take up half the space as regular cases and protect the DVD well. If one happened to be on the floor and a hefty adult came by and stepped on it, the DVD inside would likely be undamaged, and even the case would probably still be OK. (Try doing that with an audio CD jewel case!)
2. They are excellent for color-coding,using a particular color for a certain TV series or type of program. (Purchasing color coded labels from your office supply source helps even more.) The colors make DVDs easier to locate. For example,it will be easier to locate the documentary on rain forests if you know you put in in a green case. (The one on ocean life might be in a blue one and the episode about our sun in an orange case, you get the idea!)
The worst thing about these cases:
The quality seems to vary quite a bit. This batch: so far so good. Sometimes you get a bunch with transparent sleeves that aren't connected properly and occasionally a cover that won't close.
One more note regarding color-coding...Pick up at least one package of the CLEAR slim cases; that will give you one more color variety.

They are great. I got them as replacements. I had ordered some before because I have complete set of a western that came in a box that didn't last very long. These are sturdy and not bulky. The pack I order is reasonably priced.

I have bought hundreds of these DVD cases over the years. I now have well over 500 movies recorded and several TV Shows. They are of good quality and the center attachment clip keeps them elevated off the disc surface to keep them from being scratched. All of the Cases I have bought have been Memorex. Ive looked around over the years and found them at about $8 originally but they have obviously gone up to about $21 for a pack of 25. I don't think you will find them anywhere else for cheaper.

These are pretty nice as slim cases go, but I would have expected better from a major name brand. A surprising number of times (at least 5, as far as I can remember), one of the little triangular protrusions from the spine, where it joins together with the front & back are closed, broke off so easily that I suppose they must have been cracked to begin with. It's a minor thing and doesn't affect actual functioning, but it makes me a little sad now every time I see that gaping flaw in an otherwise extra-nice DVD case, the sort one would like to reserve for favorite movies. I probably *will* buy some more at some point (especially since no one else seems to offer mixed packs like these); if I'm lucky maybe it'll turn out to have been a fluke of some kind.

I bought these because our video library was getting very large and we needed my space to add more DVDs. These are so much slimmer than the jewel cases that held most of our DVDs--thus we were able to add more DVDs to our library.
The only con I have found with these DVD storage cases is not with the quality, but of the price. My husband ordered 100 of these same cases, but in black, and he says he only paid the same price I did for 25 DVD storage cases I bought. Since we each have our own accounts I don't know where he found them on Amazon or I would have ordered those instead. So if you need a large quantity of storage cases, and you don't mind not getting colored ones, I would so some research on Amazon and look for those instead.

I love these cases. I sell origami DVDs and need a case that's light but also sturdy. These cases are perfect! The case setup lets you slip a piece of paper into the "skin" of the case to act as a wraparound cover. So I customize each case with the information about the origami instructions on the DVD. The DVD itself sticks onto a central post so it stays put. I've mailed out many of my origami DVDs all over the world and have never had any of them hurt at all.
Well recommended, I use these regularly and haven't had any problems with them at all.

I used to be in the business of transferring good music vinyl records to dvd's as well as taping movies from the tv then transferring them to dvd discs. As a result, I have a huge quantity of recorded programs. I have to go through every disc and see if it plays ok. If it does, then I keep it, placing it in one of these covers. They are very, very handy.

This is an excellent product. The colors are exactly as shown, the spindles hold well and the cases close firmly. They fit my movies exactly. Thank you.
