The Eye-Fi card is just too inflexible for me in what you can and can't do with the files on it. Once you transfer a file somewhere once, you can't send it anywhere else from the card. Come on Eye-Fi.
The Transcend was nice but it's wireless range in my SL1 was abysmal and was about 5 feet. To transfer something from the camera to my PC, I had to put the camera right next to the router, otherwise it would fail to transfer anything. Plus the browser interface was extremely clunky.
The EZ-Share, on the otherhand has nice wireless range, even in my SL1 and has an ok Android app(could use some refinement and additional options) that does the job transfering things from my camera to the phone, or just viewing the pictures on the card.
The one shortcoming is it does NOT integrate with my home network. It will only act as a wireless access point that you can connect to. However, EZ Share offers a PC application that you can run on you Laptop or Home PC(if it has wireless). You can then have your Laptop or PC connect to the card and the PC application(or you can also use your browser) will see the card and you can transfer the photos over using the PC app. You can also set the card to auto transfer, when the app sees the card.
I'd like to see additonal options on the PC app too, something that auto creates a new directory, based on the date, like the Eye-Fi software does.
It also has a switch on the card to turn the wireless on and off, which is nice if you know you aren't going to use the wireless. HOWEVER, with that switch being so small, I can see it being fragile. I can see the switch wearing out if you use it too much. So I am going to see how the card and my battery does if I just leave it on all the time.
I wish Amazon would add a prime option for the 32GB version of this card.
Pros,
Good wireless Range
Descent Android App
Bonus PC application as well
With the PC app, you can connect to the card and transfer things to your PC(can also use browser , but it isn't as flexible)
Cons
Cannot connect to a router, only works as access point
Android App can use some refinement
On/Off switch seems like it can wear out easy
I installed the card in a Canon SX40. I then switched my PC from my home Wi-Fi network to the camera's new ez Share network generated by the ez Share memory card and got a prompt to click a screen tag to bring up my IE browser. I directed the browser to ez Share and it finished the address and pulled up the ez Share screen after a short delay. It then opened thumbnails of each picture. There is a selection square to select the desired photos to download to the PC.
If you want to save time transferring just a few photos to the PC (one at a time), left click the thumbnail, select "Save As" and save in your Downloads folder as .jpg. Or, right click and use "Save Picture to" to copy anywhere on your PC.
I checked the ones to download and the ez Share Wi-Fi send them to my downloads folder as a compressed .tar file. I had no .tar unzipper so I downloaded the "free" program "7 ZIP" from the Internet. This program will unzip the .tar file and place the .jpg files in a folder with the same name but no extension.
Unfortunately it seems the 7 ZIP program contained a nasty adware (Sweet Packs) which I had to uninstall (three occurrences) using the MS uninstall function in the Control Panel.
I then moved the new folder somewhere convenient and opened to list the .jpg files.
Android Smartphone installation:
I went to Play Store and found "ez Share" which I installed on the phone. I then went to settings and set up the ez Share network by detecting and providing the password 88888888. Then I just pulled up the ez Share application and followed my nose. The pictures can be sent to the gallery easily.
One more comment. The bare bones User Guide for this product is not much larger than the SD chip with super small type and is in both Chinese and English. But you have these reviews and videos to help you.
The card works as I hoped and I am completely satisfied.
