Since this was the only book I hadn't read and it came up as a free offer, I finally one-clicked it. I am so glad I did! This is an amazing story. Once I got into the story and also remembered the timeline (medicine wasn't that evolved yet too) of when these events happened I could totally understand the physicall and emotional changes that happened to Matt/Mac. Matt/Mac touched my heart with this story and I can only imagine that this really could be a true story of one of the men who served during this awful time. Abby was delightful in every way and I loved that she had remained faithful to Matt/Mac and just wouldn't believe that he had passed. Yes, I am a sucker for true love and this story is definitely one for the heart strings.
There is a wonderful happy ending and future look and I love that about Laurie Kellogg. She always has a great ending and her books leave me feeling satisified.
Just one word of caution in my opinion - when Matt is recalling his time as a POW throughout the book, I found them tough to read as again, I know I could be reading about things that really did happen. Other than that, I truly loved it.
My plan last nigh was to read a chapter or two and go to sleep - I finished reading the book bout 10 minutes before my alarm sounded this morning.
I enjoyed all the pop culture references of the time that brought me back to the year I met my husband (1974). This was a wonderful love story that had me reading on to see how things would turn out.

I thought this was a great story, it caught me from the description and I started reading it straight away. Then I didn't want to put it down.
It's an easy to read love story about a man returning home from the abuse of a prisoner of war camp in Vietnam. Although this is a love story, I found the hero's relationship with "the boys" very heartwarming.
The dialogue between the characters is flowing, the characters are strong and believable.
I thought it might be dated, but no, I found I related to the time and enjoyed remembering about things mentioned in the story, like the TV shows of that period.
Following this review I will be looking to see what more this author has to offer.
If you like an interesting spicy love story, then this is for you.
Inside the book was good though. Her fella goes off to fight in the War, its sad, funny and poignant, but it didn't keep my interest all the way through. I feel some of the story was just a little bit hyped. But I won't say more than that.
I was grateful for Aspendawn Books allowing me to read this via Net Galley.
