Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: Mended was the perfect blend of Karr’s wonderful sexy writing and an intriguing plot. This was by far the best book in the series!

Opening Sentence: A black Jetta with heavily tinted windows swerves around the corner and comes to a stop in front of me, blocking my path as I walk through her school parking lot.

The Review:

Xander Wilde is extremely controlling and has his life planned out. He loves being a manager for Wilde Ones, but when something happens to his lead singer right in the middle of their tour he is stuck in a bind. They need a new lead or the tour is going to have to be cancelled and the only one willing and available is the only girl Xander has ever loved. But years ago he let her go and he broke her heart and he hasn’t seen her since. He knows that he doesn’t deserve a second chance but seeing her again has brought up all those old feelings and he can’t help but try to peruse her again.

Ivy Taylor’s life hasn’t turned out quite like she planned. She always wanted to do music for a career but after her devastating break up with Xander when she was younger she took a different road. Instead of doing the soulful music she loved she became a rising pop star and started dating Damon Wolf, a very prominent man in the industry. Eventually they become engaged and she quits her music career. She thought she was happy until she runs back into Xander and realizes that the life she has isn’t the one she wants. But cutting ties with controlling Damon is harder then she thought it would be and possibly hazardous to the people she cares about most.

Ivy had her good and bad qualities, but her flaws left her with lots of room to grow.

I love this series. Xander is the best! Who knew that he was carrying so much guilt and so unhappy with his life. He became the man of the house and gave up his dreams to be with the one he loved. But fate interceded and she was back in his life. Through the ups and downs of trying to reconcile after 12 years apart, Xander has to find within himself to accept the past so he can move on with his future. The story is intricate, with several road blocks on the way to happiness. With things so broken can they be mended? Well done!

Loved this book! I've read all of Kim's books but I have to say that this one has the hottest, most intense scene with Ivy & Xander at his house when she tells him she's left Damon. She wants Xander to make love to her but he won't be "that other guy" since she is still married. She wants him so badly that she decides since he won't touch her that they should to take matters into their own hands ;) HOT! HOT! HOT!

Roses are so cliché…I couldn’t agree more Xander Wilde!! Mended by Kim Karr is by far my favorite of The Connections Series. As a big fan of second chance romance, I loved that Mended revolved on mending the past and welcoming the future. Mended had a perfect balance of love, angst, drama, suspense, and sexiness. Second chances and forgiveness was the biggest element of the storyline as it chronicles Xander Wilde and his first and only love, Ivy Taylor. Mended was a perfect reminder second chances are given so we can get it right this time around and true love exists.

Xander and Ivy’s story was a testament that true love always finds a way to come back. For twelve years, Ivy was led to believe that Xander cheated on her but that was not the case. A young Xander was dealing with his father’s death and he didn’t want to stop Ivy from going to college and fulfilling her dreams. His love for Ivy was so real and heartfelt that he set his love free so she can find her happiness. For 12 years, the only person who remained in his heart was Ivy. As if they were destined to meet, fate intervened and Ivy and Xander were reunited but the only problem is that old wounds and unresolved misunderstanding still remained.

Xander and Ivy’s romance was a slow burn...the sexual tension and chemistry was felt throughout the book. Talk about sexual tension, for 40% into the book I was screaming at my kindle, begging Xander to say something. I just wanted him so badly to tell Ivy the truth on why he ended things the way he did. And when he finally told the truth, I was like Hallelujah!!! The sexual chemistry and love Xander and Ivy was a blazing inferno. It seemed that 12 years didn’t extinguish any love but only proved that their love was REAL.

Mended - This series is so good! It has me so sucked in which is something I love about a book/series. I can't put it down! The storyline, the way the character's lives intertwined. I've already purchased Freyed. To be honest I had to make myself read Mended 1st before purchasing Freyed. I'm so eager to read Belle & Ben's story. About Chapter 2 of Mended I didn't give Freyed a 2nd thought. Now onto Belle & Ben! Can't wait to see how Kim Karr convinces me Ben's the cheater (if you haven't read the series this isn't a spoiler) deserves Belle.
