This is what I did. I ordered small and medium Tiro 15 and Condivo 14 pants and tried them on.
small condivo 14: tight around the thigh and calf. a little tight around the waist.
small tiro 15: tight around the calf and thigh. a little tight around the waist. COMPARATIVELY, the overall fit around the thigh and calf of the tiro 15 is looser than the condivo 14.
medium condivo 14: THIS IS THE WEIRD PART. the medium condivo 14 is looser than than medium tiro 15 in all aspects! the condivo 14, with the waistband/draw string at rest (when i stretch them and let them contract naturally without pulling on the string) sits right above the hips. I had to pull the drawstring pretty tight for it to contract enough to sit just below my waist. the thigh area was looser than the medium tiro 15. the calf area was snug fit on the condivo 14 as oppose to the tiro 15.
medium tiro 15: sits at the waist perfectly. snug around the thigh. loose around the calf.
tl;dr from tight to loose
measurements: 29 waist, 38 hip/thigh, 16 calf
1. small condivo 14: good waist, tight thigh, tight calf
2. small tiro 15: good waist, tight thigh, snug calf
3. medium tiro 15: perfect waist, snug thigh, snug calf
4. medium condivo 14: loose waist, loose thigh, snug calf
Thanks to the drawstring, the pants will fit a wide range of waists. I have to cinch it up a bit. It's not bad. And the slim-not-tight style ensures that the pants are not baggy.
Length is a bit short for me. They come to the top of the ankles. Certainly not noticeably short. Your socks will show. But if you are my height, you know that this is as good as standard sizes get, and certainly better than I expected.
Comfortable, look good, fit well. What more can you ask for? Buy these pants.
My thighs are huge from the sports I do, so I'm always wary about buying pants. I fit a 31 waist, but I always have to go 32 or 33 to accommodate for my thighs. These pants are great. The waist is a bit large, and the legs a bit long, but after I fold the top once, both the waist and the length are perfect. They fit like they would on a skinny-thighed person.
I've practiced Taekwondo and played tennis in these, activities that occur, respectively, indoors in a large gym and outdoors under the midday sun in LA. They breathe very well, are very comfortable, and stay on without trouble, provided you tie the waistband string.
The stripe on the back of each leg is great for visibility and the zipping up the bottom part of the sides of the legs makes it easy to adjust compression socks etc. If needed. The look is flattering and the tapered legs keep the cold out. These are good for multiple temperatures. I use compression socks and have found those plus the pants to be enough warmth for running in cold weather (35-40 degrees) and they breath enough for warmer runs.
I was hesitant that the fit/look of these pants would not be good but they are great. I cannot find anything I do not like about these pants.
