Arlene Karian has been blessed with the unique gift of blending the spiritual with the practical to bring about extraordinary results for her clients. "Mentoring Your Child To Win: The 7 Breakthrough Keys - How A Single Former Welfare Mom Raised A Multi-Millionaire Kid" is the next step in Arlene’s important journey – the step that will bring you innovative solutions for raising an extraordinary child. Arlene Karian has had several careers as a musician, writer, and successful entrepreneur – but her defining role is being the mother of an extraordinary son. When she struggled to survive financially as a single welfare mom, she vowed she would teach her son the critical life skills needed to overcome his challenges and make a contribution to society. She kept that promise. Her eclectic background enabled Arlene to weave together several disciplines and create her unique life-enhancement system, the "Road Map to 21st Century Parenting" system she followed to mentor her son. She also developed a process that enabled her to start a rare coin business from scratch and build it into a million-dollar company. Arlene is a sought-after speaker who has shared the podium with world-class leaders at the Pentagon, World Future Society, and the National Association for Women’s Business Owners. As a published writer, her leading-edge articles have been featured in Entrepreneur magazine, Whole Life Times and other publications. My inward thoughts affect my outward behavior. Common sense, right? Yes, but before reading this book, I never connected the ideas that not only do my thought patterns affect my basic behavior but also manifest in my relationships with others -- especially my daughter. This book offers a refreshingly commonsensical approach applicable to ANY relationship but one that is especially beneficial to ANY adult-child relationship. The author walks you through a practical, step-by-step model detailing how expelling negative thoughts leads to more positive interactions between you and your child. Once free from negative thought life, you are free to not only "parent" your child -- teaching them the invaluable dos and don'ts of life -- but also to interact with him or her in a mentoring relationship -- guiding him or her through the various experiences that compose life. This book does not advocate a "friendship" approach to parenting. It promotes the idea of teaching children not only how to survive but also how to thrive in life through the careful construction of a safe, advisory relationship wherein your child will share his or her experiences without fear of punishment. This mentoring relationship does not negate the need for basic parenting but joins with these efforts to help your child become a more well-rounded individual better prepared to successfully handle both the positive and negative aspects of life.
Your child's successful future begins with you. Want to know more? I highly recommend you read this book!
I sincerely enjoyed the love and intuitive nature with which this book was written. Too often we take parenting too casually and fail to realize that biology makes mothers and fathers but it doesn't make parents. We all need guidance in the parenting process, especially in these times of fragmented families, and who better to turn to than someone who has been successful as a parent. I was also impressed with the way the author built a lifetime of challenges into a lifetime of opportunities. Sometimes life can be hard and it is helpful to find mentors who have been able to overcome difficult circumstances and create a positive outcome. This book is an easy yet entertaining read for those parents who want the best for their children. Arlene Karian can certainly show them a way that works..
