I will be using this indoors instead of outdoors and I'm not sure I would trust it to hold up outside. My rabbits are also as big as they could be and still be able to fit on the ramp. I wouldn't recommend it for large rabbits at all.
My husband purchased a 36" x 15' (1/2" mesh) roll of galvanized hardware cloth / wire mesh. It is easy to cut with small wire cutters. We attached it with a staple gun using 3/8" staples. We reinforced the inside of the "house" as well as the underside of the tray supports. Since we were not using the perch, we attached it to the back side to serve as additional support for the removable tray.
The tray is now made of a sheet of stainless steel instead of the plastic tray I saw pictured in some of the reviews. We attached a piece of mesh to frame so any mess made in the house would fall thru and out of the way until the tray could be removed and the mess knocked out when we do a spot clean. So far everything has come right out thru the wire mesh. Liquid mess rinses out easily with a garden hose.
We also attached a sheet of mesh to the bottom of the enclosure to ensure she couldn't dig her way out if we decide to put it in the yard.
As soon as the rabbit was in the enclosure, she started chewing on the ramp. We removed the top of the yard and removed the ramp to cover it with mesh as well. While we were working on the ramp, the rabbit jumped effortlessly into the house and jumped down just as easily. The opening is about 10" off the floor of the cage. We opted to leave the ramp out entirely and covered the small sill with mesh so she wouldn't chew on it.
She has plenty of room and seems very happy. My 7 year old (small for her age) can fit through the pen door and sits comfortably with her rabbit. Happy rabbit, happy kids... happy home!
Easy to assemble
All pieces fit together and pre-drilled holes were in the right spot
THERE IS NO CAGE FLOOR ON TOP FLOOR. I'm so upset I didn't realize this. There is no wire floor over the pull out tray. Rabbit just hops around in its own mess. Plus, if you pull that tray out the entire first floor is gone. Bunny has to be in the basement to change the droppings tray.
The boards are cheaply made and if not extremely careful during set-up- will split in half. A recent find as of today after a rainy day, all three of our chickens are SOAKED! The roof leaks. We purchased this for our three chickens to add to the end of our long run we have in our yard. It is more like a doll-house! IT is so small, it is MAX a 2 chicken coop.
