My experience with reclining office chairs is that you should be easily able to recline and stay reclined sitting in it. This chair will tilt back if you force it, but you have to maintain that force to keep it reclined, and it's tiresome. It is definitely not a reclining office chair.
I would return it but I threw away the box it came in when I opened it and it's too much of a hastle to take the chair apart and pay the expenses and waste the time associated involved with returning it. I'm betting the seller banks on customers like me not returning these chairs after being totally dishonest in their product description.
This is a rocking chair, it does not recline.
My complaint is the noise. God, the obnoxious, abysmal f***ing noise this thing makes. It squeaks like a 4 year old at a horror movie showing. God forbid a moth farts in the room, and this thing howls like an 18 wheeler's brakes just gave out. It's absolutely terrible.
Next complaint. If you play games and are looking for a good budget chair, keep looking. This ain't the one chief. I play for like 2 hours max at a time and my ass H U R T S after a brief session. Absolutely no support at all. This thing doesn't sit up straight one bit. Even in the up position, this thing still has about a 35 degree angle. Oh also, forget any cushioning. Virtually non-existent. Your back and legs will be sore, especially if you try to recline. You literally have to fight this thing to recline, because it doesn't actually recline. The whole top half leans back like a rocking chair and you'd better have a foot rest embedded in your wall somewhere, cause you need some leg power to keep it back.
Don't expect this thing to stay at the height you set it at either. It gradually (or sometimes not so gradually) lowers itself, seemingly seconds after you set the height and get as comfy as you can in this friggin boulder of a chair. I could actually sit on a stack of used needles from Manhattan and still be more comfortable than this Chinese doo-doo. I don't even know how I've managed to use this garbage for nearly two years.
Save an extra $50 and buy a real chair.
Otherwise, solid product. Easy to put together, good back support, can lean back or be locked into a straight up position. Adjustable height, etc.
Edit: After less than 6 months, the chair will no longer stay up in the raised position, and the pleather on both arms is feeling away. I also discovered a sharp tac/nail sticking up out of one of the arms beneath the cushion, that then ripped the pleather when I pressed down on it when standing up. I'm less than pleased.
