Rewarding Conclusion

The Secretum of Six have completed their work. Grant is dead and Oblivion has taken his place. True to his name, Oblivion's arrival ignites the beginning of global death and destruction. With Grant gone and the Loci under Oblivion's control, all hope seems lost and the earth domed to destruction. Can the ancient prophecies be thwarted?

Merciless started out much like Relentless--totally and completely confusing. Grant left and Oblivion arrived with no warning and no clue as to what was going on or the direction the story would take. Quite a bit of time was spent attempting to draw the reader in by repeatedly describing what things felt like. Unfortunately, it slowed the story to a crawl and all the momentum gained at the end of Fearless was lost. However, the story does pick up and come to life.

The more I read of the Dominion series, the more I enjoyed Parrish's writing. He was able to flawlessly weave in some wonderful ideas and thoughts. With expert precision he explores the ideas of free will, evil, love, and humanity. Some of his best writing is embedded into Merciless and the internal conflicts of the characters.

With the group splitting and Grant in limbo, Merciless has some nice suspense. The linear feel of the previous books is largely lost and in its place are some nice subplots that start to work toward a singular point creating a rewarding conclusion to a fairly complex trilogy.

The first book was great, the second book was awsome, and this the third book was simply explosive! Here we finally understad the why's behind all our questins. This third book shows how the 'Dominion Stones and Rings' goes back to the begining of creation. Yes it's a work of fiction but in the end Robin Parrish has found a wonderful way to weave the love and sacrifice of Christ into this redemptive book. We see in this book that Grant Borrows has died, or so they think, and Oblivion (The Angel of Death) takes his place in his body. Brought forth by the evil plans of the Secretum of Six, Oblivion is brought into the world to destroy it so that the Creator can start anew with a perfect creation that leaves no room for the freedom of choice. The Secretum of Six view humanity's power to choose as evil and only leading to more evil and thinks they are doing the Creator a favor by brining forth Oblivion to destroy all of creation... However the Ringwearers find a way to overcome this evil, and to escape the hold of Oblivion. Together they unite to save the world, wheather the world deserves it or not. As the first two books this one was also action packed, with moments where questions are answered in memorable dialogue. I loved it!!

Would make for a good streaming show - lots of action and a cool variety of super hero powers along with a straightforward plot that pushes forward to the final showdown. Some emotionally charged character interactions as well. I skimmed a lot of the fighting scenes and the writing itself seemed a bit padded (400 pages!). Maybe the whole trilogy could have been compressed into 2 books? Still, 3.5 stars and recommended for fans of Christian action / super hero style stories.

This series was a GREAT read, with much imagination, Sci-Fi, twists and turns and a deep spritual emphasis all in one. The first book started and ended strong, which set the tone for the next two books. The second book maintained its fast paced story line, with some new characters presented. The third series kept me turning the pages, but did seem to be a somewhat slower pace. Nevertheless, I never once lost interest, nor did I become bored with the writing. Mr. Parrish did a tremendous job in tying everything together, bringing the reader to an action packed and exciting conclusion. I find myslef becoming a Parrish fan and am looking forward to reading more of his novels.

I would definitely recommend this series to anyone inclined to show interest in this genre.

Thanks for a GREAT series, Mr. Parrish.

When I first started reading this series, I did not realize that it was a series. I bought books one and two at a used book store and after starting to read book one, realized it was a Christian novel. I finished it in one day and started book two. I tried locating Merciless but was unable to. I finally bought it for my Kindle and read it today. They were well written, easy to read, and quick paced. I give them all four stars and not five because I don't think this could really happen.

There were both good and bad points, along with personal reasons why I did not absolutely love this book. #1, Robin Parrish has done an AMAZING job on this series, however the endings of each book have been left with the reader wanting a little bit more. Perhaps this is because we really do not want the book to end, yet I think it is because he gained so much momentum in his writing that when he attempted to come to a complete halt, it did not work out for him. #2, the personal reason, I hate it when authors put words into God's Mouth. I really hate it. Now to the good points. I love #1, his writing, #2, the detail he put into his plot and his characters, #3, the way he drags us along in action and propels us into a world of superhumans. I especially enjoyed the unexpected theology he included in this book: there were several moments where I just paused to think on what he had written. In all, I give this 3 stars-though I am tempted to give it four.

A satisfying finish to the trilogy. Good page turner. As a whole I would give the three books 3 1/2 stars but this book rattles along like the first. The second was a bit of a lull. Not the world’s greatest literature nor am I a massive fan of superhero/fantasy genre but this book gets four stars on the basis I couldn’t put it down once I was on the home stretch.

If you have not read the other 2 novels in this trilogy do not start here as you will be totally lost. For those of us who have already read part one and two you will not be disappointed.ok I personally didn't like elements of the ending and the choice of characters that were killed off( don't want to name names and spoil it) but that is a purely personal thing as I do tend to get quite involved with the characters in these type of novels, having said this I do not think the story would have worked so well and reached such a dramatic conclusion if these events had not transpired. As far as I can remember all the loose ends are tied up and you are not left with a million questions. On the whole I was really impressed with these books and would recommend them to friends

The writer presents a scenario from where you can see no logical end and only with a final twist at the end does it all make sense.

I bought the first of the trilogy because it was free on Kindle but quickly became hooked and bought the following two books.
Robin Parrish in my opinion is up there with the likes of David Eddings in his imagination and story telling
