The book is a good introduction to Merry and her pre-CIA life, her CIA life, and her post-CIA life. Because it's the first in a series, it's left a little open ended at its conclusion.
Overall, the book is very clean. The writing is playful. The dialogue (inner and conversationally) is sarcastic, snarky, but realistic. The plot is not realistic, but who cares?!
The only thing I did not like about the book and the reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that Merry is a bit damsel in distress at times and boy crazy. It's almost like she's 15 rather than in her 20s.
I am most interested to read future books where we can meet Merry's parents, learn more about her missions in the CIA, and her growth into a more mature and hormonally-stable woman.
This book came at a great time for me because I was reading a very long and theoretically-driven book that was pissing me off. I decided to pause that book and read something completely different. I know how this author writes, so I chose this one to read. It's perfect for the beach, a long flight, or a foul weather day and snuggling under a blanket with lots of tea.
