The mermaid sisters were lucky that when they tried their storm surfing it was when Lindy moved from Chicago into her new beach side home where she has a clear view of the ocean from her bed room window. Rescue a mermaid washed up into the tide pools and unable to return to the sea Lindy possible has made a pair of friends for life. Friends well enough to give her the secret of breathing under water so that they can have adventures together under the sea. Those who like the recent Disney special Sofia The First The Floating Palace or enjoy reading the Emily Windsnap series would probably find this book very interesting.

I really enjoyed this book that my 8 yo read aloud to me as part of our schoolwork. She did, too! : ) The AR system lists this book as a 3.4 (roughly mid-way through 3rd grade), but I would say that, although the vocabulary certainly fits that level, the author's choice of sentence structure was more advanced at times and, thusly, more interesting.

Certainly one must suspend reality to engage in a mermaid story, but the author did it well, making for a fun story that was as much about trying new things, adjusting to a new home and overcoming fears as it was about mermaids and little girls.

A hit!
