"Jasmine Becket-Griffith Mermaids" contains 52 pages of illustrations and 3 pages of introductory material. It measures 8.5 x 11 inches and is sewn into a thick brown cardboard cover with a removeable dust jacket. Featuring fantasy style ocean themes, this book would be appropriate for colorists 16+ on all skill levels.
The paper in this book is cream colored and quite heavy(almost like cardstock). All pages feature an image on one side and a small descriptive paragraph on the reverse. None are perforated. All mediums are okay to use as is, but alcohol based markers will bleed through. Be sure to place several sheets of paper under your current picture to prevent color transfer.
The artwork featured in this book is all original and done in the artist's signature style. As implied by the title, the main emphasis is mermaids. There are also a variety of other sea creatures, butterflies, dragons, and botanicals - as well as depictions of several mythical characters. Nearly all of the images have background elements and the majority of the artwork is full size. There are 4 pages of smaller pictures with one or two per page with narrower proportions. All of the images are finished by a thin black border and end before reaching the binding so if you choose to remove individual pages, nothing will be lost. Detail level does vary a bit throughout, and print quality is high. Picture completion time should range from 5-10 hours(may be slightly different for each colorist). Overall, this is a beautifully composed book with a unique style. It is best suited for artists who enjoy whimsical imagery.
