The story is about a young married woman that has just miscarried. Her husband seems to be without a soul. He is not a loving man, I can't imagine why she married him to begin with. she has reached her final stage with no hope, no love, just dispair and depression. So she ties weights to her clothing and walks down to the beach and out to the end of a pier and steps off. She starts to sink and her mind is screaming to not do this but the weights are too much and she can't get free of them. She feels an arm move around her waist and start to pull her forward. But then it is a man and he is kissing her. Everything is spinning in her mind. What is going on?
Ok, now the rest is the love story for the two of them. Now, you have to know this is a complete fantasy. There are no rules. The author has a get home free card to do anything she wishes. I thought she created a great under the sea life. I loved the way the animals talk to each other and the thoughts and wisdom they passed along to others. It was a good story and I thoroughly enjoyed it and I definitely recommend it. I don't normally read this genre but I have to admit the cover sucked me in. I'm glad it did.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer and I do not know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 6/18/19
But aside from the characters introduced, I can say the world this author started creating seems like it would be incredibly interesting. I would have loved to see more about this world she has started.
Just based on this book alone, I think the author just needs to take a little more time with her characters to flesh them out, as individuals, and as a couple falling in love. I also think maybe not be so afraid of going overboard on the details. I'm a little interested to check out other storys from this author to see how she is growing as a writer.
This book had been sitting in my TBR pile for a while and was re-interested while reading through the blurb. What a twist!! This book is a fairly short story, but I loved the concept of a male POV being or possibly being abandoned by a female seducer. Talk about female power!!
If there is one drawback to this story, it's how quickly Zantu and Briana come together within the first chapter. I would have liked to have seen more of the relationship between the brothers and how Briana "ate" underwater. Comical relief (a pet fish maybe?) would have been an added bonus for me, but I guess the author had to move the story along. An epilogue of how Zantu and Briana managed human life with a baby on land meeting would have been good too. Can't have everything I guess.
Make no mistake, there are scenes meant only for the 18+ crowd with mature audiences only. I did enjoy the twist this book provided from the usual paranormal read, but didn't really endear me to Zantu's brother. I guess I'll read the second book in this series to see how he manages. As for the rest of the books in this series, not sure I'll buy the rest of them. We'll see how the second book goes...

All mermaids are fickle and all mermen are faithful. Er, I like it better when there are shades of pale. The odd rebel, same as a tomboy. Interesting society though, a major role reversal or two.
The undersea world is well written, fun, strange with familiar aspects. We are so aware now of the damage wreaked by rubbish in the ocean that the odd allusion to it was welcome, yet did not go far enough. I would read more of this series.
I availed of a free download offer. This is an unbiased review.
