Super comfortable with lots of grip!

I was on the fence about buying these as I already had a pair of trail sneakers. I bought them for a trip to Hawaii where I knew I'd be hiking in lots of mud. They were so comfortable from the moment I put them on. I tried them on with both short running socks and also a thin pair of neoprene socks (Akona brand) My plan was to wear the neoprene socks if we were doing any hikes through water. The grip on these is amazing! We hiked up and down steep trails and was not sliding around at all. Way better than my trail shoes. And after 3 days of hiking I didn't have any blisters. I wore them only with socks as we never ended up doing any wet hikes. I highly recommend these! I am a size 8 1/2 and I ordered an 8 as I read the reviews that they ran a bit big. BUY THESE! You won't be sorry!

Compared to Ahnu sport sandals and 6 others

In an effort to replace my worn out, beloved pair of Ahnu sports sandals, which are no longer manufactured, I recently purchased the following shoes, all in size 9M:
Teva Omnium Slate

Merrell Women's All Out Blaze Sieve Water Shoe
Merrell womens Water Shoe HYDROTREKKER LTR SHANDAL
Brown Oak Women's Closed Toe Outdoor Hiking Water Shoes Sport Sandals
Northside Santa Rosa Sport Sandal
Teva Terra Float Active Lace Wild Dove Womens Sporty Sandal

Note that I have a 2” arch to support in this review. Yes, it really measures 2”. Even the podiatrist was surprised. Okay, here’s the rundown:
The most rugged, most sportlike, and least sandal-like were the Merrells. If you’re looking for stability, support, and good traction, look at Merrell. All of them ran longer and more narrow, particularly in the heel. The Choprock felt lighter and more open than the All Out Blaze or the Hydrotrekker.
The Brown Oak pair felt far larger in general and wider, specifically. My feet flopped around in them. Little molding or cushioning in the footbed; but then, that’s relative to the Merrells.
The Northside Santa Rosa was the most open and least sporty of them all. No molding or cushioning in the footbed. No real support. Scratchy interior. Better protection than open sandals, though.
If you need to seriously lockdown your ankles, look to the Teva Omnium Slate. I liked the security, but it didn’t allow enough space in the instep for me. These took slightly more work to put on with the additional buckle. So, weigh whether you need stability or convenience more.
Finally, and my favorite, the Teva Terra Float Active Lace felt immediately comfortable: soft interior; snug, but not tight; ample support; sufficient space in the instep to allow for an additional ¾ orthotic for arch support; supportive, but not clunky; plenty of breathability; more coverage (in mesh) for the forefoot than my Ahnu pair, which should help keep out debris; sufficient traction for my everyday activities.
Ahnu had been an offshoot of Teva, and is now manufactured by Teva. So, it makes sense that the Tevas were a good replacement for my old Ahnus. I’m grateful I found a pair that would keep my feet comfortable.

Oddly Long Sizing

Have enjoyed wearing the All Out Blaze Sieve Water Shoe size 6.5 for years and thought Merrell was replacing it with this Shoprock Shandal Hiking Shoe, which I bought in the same size. Please Merrell keep making the Sieve. It is a wonderful hiking and water shoe. My husband also loves it. After comparing the two shoes during my last purchase, I again kept the wonderful Blaze Sieve and returned the strangely long Shoprock Shandal.

I love these shoes. 2.5 mile various terrain right out of the box and it felt like I've had these shoes for years. Like other reviews say, they are a little long. I'm normally an 8, but can get away with 7.5 so that's what I ordered. They are still a little long, but very functional. After several low water crossing on wet rocks, I think these have better grip than my other Merrell hiking shoes and the fact that I don't have to wear socks is a huge bonus. I hike a lot in and around rivers so these are going to be my new favorite shoe, plus it's a great water show for everyday play. Note: I did purchase the blaze sieve first, but didn't like the design or comfort.

Hi, I recently purchased The shoes and I love them to death, but I cannot wear them. The shoes fit great they’re very comfortable but the back of the shoe is so painful and creates sores on my heels, it’s only my left foot not the right it’s as if there’s something extra stitched in the back. Ive been trying and trying to wear them but I get no more than an hour of use before I’m literally in pain at my heel area and will have to remove them.

I love the sturdy thick soul which has fantastic grip when hiking on slippery rocks or gravel. But the overall fit is just not quite right compared to how my Keen shoes fit. Also, the way it is designed on the back should be more of a cut out so not to rub. It is hard to find a waterproof shoe that has such a great soul and grip, but I wish it were more comfortable and I am hoping it will form to my foot with use.

Love these shoes! They’re so versatile. I have eczema on my feet which flares up with heat so wearing walking shoes/boots in the summer is impossible. These are great because you get the support of a shoe but the lighter feel of a sandal. They are comfortable with or without socks and the insole is removable. I’ve worn them hiking in the Peak District and in water for paddle boarding. They are generous in size so you may want to size down.
