Perfect for quick winter walks with our dog!

We live near Greenbay, WI and I wanted a shoe that I could wear if it was cold out, with little or no snow on the ground, as we live in a condo and have to walk our dog. My winter boots are great, but difficult to put on and take off; these shoes are very easy to put on and take off. I like a wider shoe and there are very few winter shoes made in wider sizes, this one is also very comfortable with thicker winter socks. I don't know how good they are in extremely cold weather (below zero,) but they've been great so far. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a winter shoe to do a quick task outdoors in the cold.

What I don't like is there is no arch support. I pronate badly with these shoes. I ordered Dr. Scholls inserts to see if that helps.

I wanted something to kick around in during the winter here in the midwest. I operate a farm in a northern tier state and am often moving around the property, snow, ice, animal dooky, you name it. There are times where boots aren't required and these are my go to shoes. They're not only comfortable doing small tasks around the property, but they stick like glue on icy ground. Their fit is comfortable, supportive and If you take care of them they're nice enough to just run around in. I don't feel the need to include heavy socks but if you do, a half size larger might do the trick. I'm really quite impressed with the sturdiness. I'm not easy on footwear, or clothes for that matter so spending a few extra bucks on quality makes sense. Well done Merrell.

I had a pair of Merrell Winter Mocs for years and wore them all the time, winter and summer. They were perfectly waterproof and I live in a very wet climate. Most importantly, they fit nice and snug and were comfortable. I wore them to work everyday, and for casual wear as well. Finally, they started to leak a little bit. Otherwise they were still in pretty good shape after 3 years. So I bought these new ones hoping they would replace the old ones and work just as well. It took about half a day to get them broke in, but now I have the same thing - waterproof, snug, comfortable, and rugged work shoes as well as casual shoes. I wear a size 10.

I purchased this product so that I could save myself from any slips or Falls while going on my daily walks this winter. A serendipitous event of an ice storm right after receiving these shoes gave me a chance to put them to the test. While my neighbors and nieces and nephews were slipping and falling on the ice at our Christmas event, even though trying not to, I was able to walk quite safely on a sloped freshly sleeted driveway. I was very surprised and pleased. The abrasive bits in the bottom of the shoes really help to grab ahold. Time will tell how long they last but since I'm only using them in extreme situations, I hope they will last a long time. Well done Merrill.

Like others have commented here, the shoes developed a split/hole where the sole meets the uppers, ruining the waterproofing. I used the shoes heavily for walking daily to work for less than two months before they broke. Great shoes otherwise--I really did love them--but $200 for 2 months of use is not good. I wish there was more information on the Amazon website regarding a warranty from Merrell. Will not be buying again.

(Update 6 months later). I panicked when I couldn't find a good replacement shoe for winter walking. The second pair lasted even less time than the first and split in the exact same spot. Less than 2 months of use!

Overall I’m very pleased with these stylish boots. They are easy to slip on. I ordered the extra wide to meet my needs and they are both wide enough and very comfortable. I would not call the sole anti-slip; however walking on the snow/ice covered streets of Winnipeg in winter, they provide excellent traction overall. There is a bit of slipping on ice but on all other winter surfaces I’ve felt very stable on my feet. I wear heavier socks on the colder mornings(below -25°C) and I don’t notice the cold. Great buy
