These are one of my favorite shoes.
The shoes were/are comfortable, the sole relatively durable as well, especially if not used for much walking outdoors.
They look good even with slacks and are light and easy to get into.
My issue was the quality of the leather used for the uppers. While it breaks in quickly, for me it demonstrated terrible wear.
I have not worn these very much at all. I used them around the house, for a quick run to the grocery store, those kinds oft things.
Pretty quickly I saw the leather at the inside of the seam at the center back of the shoes for each foot showing bad abrasion wear. There is not surface finished skin left at this spot on either shoe. Similarly the tops of the front toes area show signs of the same abrasion though not as bad but still easily noticed.
I do not see this wear patterns on any of my other shoes. At the price I paid, this is simply not acceptable.
Let me add I have another pair of merrill walking shoe and they are as comfortable, more sturdy, have heavier soles, and I got them at just about the same price. So I am far from anti merill.
Having said this, these are excellent clogs that are perfect for hospital work. They have a nice amount of 'snap' when you slide your heel in, which is awesome for running to codes, or not tripping over yourself in the operating room. They are impervious to various healthcare encountered 'fluids', and blood washes off easily. The rubber sole is substantial and grippy. Also, its not like wearing a pair of high heels, like those ugly, uncomfortable Dansko clogs everyone wears.
The outsole is made of a really comfortable, but tough leather-like material, and there is a good cushy welt that buttresses it against your skin. If these come in your size, I would highly recommend them, especially over the Dansko variety.

The shoes fit well and take a beating. I would suggest buying some odor eater inserts as well. These shoes don't breath easy and feet sweat inside them.Published 22 months ago by David Williams
