I have been searching for the perfect shoes for several years. Every shoe was always uncomfortable, did not fit right, felt cheap or hated the color options. I absolutely love the black and purple color, I did not want something that would stand out. I guess I have a hard to fit foot after so many years searching but this shoe fit perfectly right away and there was no break in period needed. I also have high arches and usually my feet are aching by the end of 1 hour walking but no longer! I must admit, I was extremely skeptical about spending this amount of money on shoes I could not try on first but I am now officially a believer in the Merrell brand!

Update: I am upgrading my review to 5 stars. While they aren't quite as wide as Moab, they are much more supportive. Additionally, they are much lighter, making my hiking experiences much more enjoyable.

I have worn Moab 2 Vents with power step insoles as my everyday shoes for years. I walk, hike, bike, garden, and shop in these shoes. I expect certain things from this Merrell most, especially that the several wide-width options. Since I am now vegan instead of only plant-based, I avoid leather. My last pair of Moabs wore out, so I tried leather-free Siren in 6W. They are at least 1/4 inch narrower than Moab 6W. While not unreasonably tight, they are snugger than Moab of the same size. I do like that they are much less bulky and much lighter than Moab while still offering the same supportive, protective sole. I need an excellent sole to ease the pain in my deformed feet. They will do.

They felt weird around my heel, when I first put them on, but I decided to give them a chance anyway and I'm glad I did. I wore them around the house for a day and then went on several full day hikes in a row. They have great traction and held my foot in place really well. No break-in required. They aren't the cushiest, but I don't think you can expect hiking shoes to be. Love the colors!

At Last, a good last for Me

These are wonderful walking shoes, with plenty of good yet not cumbersome or clunky support, and they have a slim attractive look on my feet. I wear an 8 medium, and have shortish toes, with plenty of room in front, but not too much. They fit perfectly all over, and give good support to my somewhat high arch.
I've worn Merrell slip-on Jungle Moc shoes for work for many years, but lately those have not fit as well, nor have they held up very long. I had never tried a lace up from Merrell, until a friend recommended the Siren Edge 3, and thought I would give it a try. I've been wearing them now for about three months and am very happy with them. They fit well all around, including the heel, and don't pull socks down at the back. I do use a shoehorn to put them on, but that's only because they are cut so well that they hug my feet, in the right way. They are lightweight too, but not sloppy or loose-feeling. I think this is now my go-to shoe.

While they had the comfort I would expect from Merrell, they definitely were not sufficiently waterproof. My Merrell hiking boots can handle walking through rivers- these were soaked through walking in rain and puddles. Extremely disappointed in receiving such a low quality product from such a trusted brand.

The 9's are a half size too small

I'm a big Merrell fan. They make very functional and comfortable hiking shoes that are actually attractive to wear. I'm a size 9 in 95% of shoe brands out there, from casual flats all the way to hiking boots. My Merrell Moab FST hikers are a size 9 and fit perfectly. However, these touch the tips of my toes on both feet. I returned them for a 9.5.

These are a much lighter weight model, owing to the center lateral material that surrounds the foot itself. If you want a stiffer upper, go for different model, but this is an incredibly lightweight and functional model for mild to moderate difficulty hikes. I should note that the lug height on these is not the highest, and the traction is mainly achieved by the Vibram grippy sole.

If you want greater traction or deeper lugs for uneven or rocky terrain, check out other models. These are light and stylish enough to be used as a street shoe, but capable enough as hikers, especially in the more expensive waterproof model. I haven't tried these in cold conditions, so I'm speculating based on their construction, but they seem to be most suited for warm weather hikes. Great venting.

For ordering online, this was pretty great! I have some weird feet and I got a 10 W and it was an almost perfect fit. Really sturdy with grip on the bottom. I feel like I'm going to roll my ankle because the heel is so high. I know $75 is pretty normal for shoes but I'm used to $9 Wal-Mart shoes. So...for such a jump in my expenditure, I'm not sure what I was expecting but so far it hasn't hit worth $75 just yet, when my husband spent $49 on fancy Addias. We went on our normal 2 mile walk in hilly town tonight and my shins hurt when they usually don't hurt. We are going hiking Monday so I may have better experience to report then.

This is a perfect walking shoe. The width allows for thickness of walking socks whilst still maintaining wiggle room for toes with no pressure on the side of big toe bone. There is a strong arch support feature which can be removed if you want but it doesn’t take up hardly any room. Easy lace up and lovely colours. Costs a bit more but the superior quality is worth every penny.

I’d like to converse with the manufacturer as I think this isn’t good, but cannot find a way to do this !
