I've purchased the same exact formula for my pup prior to buying my second batch. She did okay on the first.
However, she refused to eat this new package that was shipped to me. Kibbles had a slightly more wet texture (contrary to "dry" food) and she would pass gas and have runny poops when she did manage to get couple of bites. She contested for couple of days, enough for me order a different brand. She loves her new food..
Now, we're talking about the same brand, same type, and same formula. This should raise awareness for all of the owners who are looking to feed their dogs some higher-end dry food. The negative reviews before me regarding inconsistent formula is not a lie.
Metrics puppy rated 129 A++. The highest on the list I believe. The kibble is small and made for easy digestion. Her coat shines and for A wire coated GSD, that is impressive. Her stools are consistent and healthy. Her teeth are white with no build up and definitely no bad breath. We couple her kibble with a couple of spoonfuls of Merrick Puppy Plate canned food mixed in. She loves it. The canned food is awesome with no grain but healthy chunks of meat, carrots and peas. At her three month vet check, the vet gave her an excellent bill of health and speaks pretty highly of Merrick as well. Roxie loves it and it's healthiest for her.
Bottom line: This has been a great food for them!
The people we got them from was using Blue B. And switch after we told her what our vet said to use. She switched again a week later to Sicence D. Dogs, especially puppies don’t do well switching food that quickly !!! It becomes a very runny mess! And they are not the happy guys you thought they would be. 3-4 weeks of slowly mixing your old brand with the new stuff and about every 5 days adding more of the new stuff will make things a lot happier for everyone.
I never heard of this brand before, but there are videos about what to look for in a dog food. And this brand meets ALL of the good stuff and NO grain !!! Stuff that they can’t use or break down inside of them.
I know that I have just given you a long winded way of saying that this is very good stuff! But it had been a very good choice for us.
We may switch him to salmon or other non-chicken, non-beef formula because I understand that chicken, beef, and grain allergies are common. I see no harm in avoiding the potential for skin, ear, or other issues by feeding salmon or lamb, etc. instead.
Photo 1 was taken at the shelter. He looked much less nourished than the photo indicates when we rescued him.
The video and photos 3 and 4 show him at 2+ weeks after rescue.
