From the Author
This is the author's first novel and it sprang out of a short story that just begged to have its story developed. It actually took three novels, a trilogy, to tell the whole story. As with all of my novels and novellas, I tried to write this story in the same style and pace of story that I enjoy so much in the Hallmark Hall of Fame type of stories on television. Happy endings are the norm and Christian, or at least, decent principles are adhered to throughout. It is always the author's hope that the reader will enjoy the story and "feel good" when the story is over. Donald C. Hancock

I found this story fascinating because of the historic nature. You get a new view about WWII seeing it through the eyes of Richard who grew up hearing about the great war, but never knew exactly what it felt like until he read the last words of a dying navy man who floated in the vast Atlantic Ocean for weeks before he lost his life after a German U-boat blew him and his fellow navy buddies out of the water. The unforeseen twists of fate which forever change the lives of many of the characters within the story is also a reason to delve into this story. I imagine people who actually lived through WWII and survived, would love to fall into a story such as this one to relive that long ago era.
