From the Author
Thank you so much for picking up Messenger Between Worlds: Real Stories from a Psychic Medium. The book wasn't written to toot my own horn or stroke my ego, far from that, but instead to help others. Whether for a person going through divorce, a single mom wondering if she can make it through the day, or whatever trial and tribulation that makes one feel as if you they are walking in quick sand and sees no way out. In essence, it was written in hopes of inspiring - even just one person (but hopefully more), that everyday can be a new experience if you just believe.
About the Author
Kristy Robinett (Livonia, MI) is a psychic medium and author who began seeing spirits at the age of three. When she was eight, the spirit of her deceased grandfather helped her escape from a would-be kidnapper, and it was then that Robinett realized the Other Side wasn't so far away. As an adult, she was often called upon by the local police department to examine cold cases in a new light and from a different angle. She gained a solid reputation for being extremely accurate at psychical profiling and giving new perspectives on unsolved crimes. It was then that she began working with a variety of law enforcement agencies, attorneys and private investigators around the United States, aiding in missing persons, arson, and cold cases. Her psychic detective work was recognized in a new series on the ID Network, Restless Souls.
Robinett teaches psychic development and paranormal investigating at local colleges, lectures across the country and is a regular media commentator and has been spotlighted on Coast to Coast, Darkness Radio, ABC News, Fox News and the Ricki Lake Show. She is the author of Forevermore: Guided in Spirit by Edgar Allan Poe; Messenger Between Worlds: True Stories from a Psychic Medium; Higher Intuitions Oracle; Ghosts of Southeast Michigan; and Michigan's Haunted Legends and Lore. My difficulties with this book: 1) Everyone has the ability to sense Spirit. It is not a "special gift" given only to a few. I describe it to my students as "we all get the same gift, but your wrapping paper is different." Some people choose to develop their particular talents, others do not. In any case, science tells us (at this point) that psychic skills seem to be a function of the lower brain, possibly a leftover survival skill from a time humans were pre- verbal. Having psychic abilities makes you neither special nor unique.
2) Empaths are a pain to live with - ask my family. It is up to us to define our boundaries and adapt, to be conscious of other's needs and not use our abilities as an excuse for special treatment or bad behavior. Staying balanced is the task, and that is our responsibility. I come from a home where my parents divorced early and I spent time in foster care as well as having participated in two failed marriages and a lot of other bad decisions. I don't choose to live in that place, I learned the lessons and moved on. Ms. Robinett might want to do the same.
When I picked this book up I was hoping for a factual account of how Ms. Robinett learned to manage her abilities and use them in a positive fashion, and there were glimpses of that. However, getting lost in the soap opera of her early years and all of the self- pity and victimology documented there I was completely turned off.
the other side myself.
Thank you Kristy for sharing your personal life experience! I can relate to some of your personal challenges, not the medium part :( It was very touching. I'd definitely buy another book of yours.
