This knife does many kitchen chores beyond cutting tomatoes and cheese. For example, it will enable a user to cut cold steak into very thin slices. It will cut pastry shells without crumbling them. The serrations are fine, and if you cut with repeated back and forth motion rather than bearing down with weight, it will serve well. For us, it is the single most useful knife we own.

We first saw a knife similar to this in Southern California. We bought one there and later (now in Northern California) began to wish we had another. I searched on line and found this knife which is a different brand. I use it almost every day. As indicated, it is particularly good for tomatoes and cheese. There are a variety of other uses. For example bread and cakes, particularly angel food cake. We think it is better than the first one!

I have never owned a cheese knife before this one. I really like this one. It slices swiss and provalone exceptionally well. I think I will use my sharp knives for tomatoes, though and I would never consider grinding down the serrations. The cheese doesn't stick to the knife, which is exactly what I wanted.

I have used this knife only for a few times, but it is pretty sharp and grips on to the surface of tomatoes pretty well. I have also tried cutting potatoes with it and chopping them with this knife is a breeze. I haven't owned it for more than a month, but my other Messermeister knife is still going after 6 months, so I think that this one will be like that too.

While the knife is fine for tomatoes, it really shines with cheese. Removing the steel with the skeletal frame prevents friction. Cool!

I like this knife a lot, although the blade is thinner than I had hoped. The grip fits nicely into my hand, and it feels great. It's a bit tricky to make a straight cut through a large piece of cheese. I use it quite often at the restaurant where I work preparing cheese boards, so I'll get used to it and come up with the proper way to hold it when cutting large blocks or wheels.

Just my favorite knife ever for slicing tomatoes. Stays sharp forever. I don't use it for cheese, but for tomatoes it can't be beat. I had a great crop of tomatoes this summer and used this knife every day. Then I took it camping and lost it so had to immediately replace it. Not sure about why it has the weird double pointed end and the holes, but whatever.

I go through a lot of cheese and a lot of tomatoes in my house and needed a proper knife. I've had it a few months now and like it for cheese, but not nearly as much for tomatoes. It cuts a but rough with tomatoes, so I've gone back to using my old utility knife for those. The handle of the knife is nice, easy to grip. It is a little challenging to clean with the open blade. It makes it a bit difficult to get bits of tomato and cheese off the serrated edge. Bottom line, I'm still on the search for a tomato knife, but this one is still being put to good use.
