I paid money for a book that I now have to edit, which takes time, it makes my book look messy with notes in the margins or wherever I can squeeze them in, and has made this whole process even more confusing. I started making notes before I realized how massive this list was, so I can't even return it for an updated edition. Just really irritated.
There are many things I like. Haylie seems to have a tremendous amount of success with her clients, and is not afraid to speak up against established thinking. At this point I give the book three stars for the following reasons:
1. The web site is overwhelmingly product-oriented. I appreciate the fact that there are numerous articles and some additional recipes, although most of the MR recipes on the web site are repeats of what's already in the book. Web site membership ($12.99 per month) gets you a 10% discount on products, but the additional benefits (recipes; VIP customer service; etc.) hardly seem worth $13 per month.
2. Haylie's shakes are listed as options instead of the suggested breakfasts and lunches. I absolutely do not get how this can work. The nutritional content of the shake (that you're supposed to mix with water) in no way compares with the protein, fat and carbohydrate content of the recipe choices listed in the book - in fact, it's a paltry fraction. I can't understand how the shakes represent a reasonable exchange for the meals listed.
3. I had what I thought was a simple question for support. I was told I should consult with a coach for $125. My question was along the lines of others answered on Hayley's blog. A simple answer could have sufficed, with a suggestion that if the answer was not sufficient that I consult with a coach.
If this plan does not work for me, I plan to switch to the Fast Metabolism diet. In any case, I will update as I go along.
I couldn’t wait for this book release and I am left terribly disappointed. Not only is an ingenious marketing ploy to sell her shakes ,website access, brand mixes etc. It also has me fine tuning my editing skills, with approx 80 errors in print,I find this completely unacceptable.
There are some great recipes and Success stories in there. The diet itself had me feelng good but has left me very disappointed with the weight loss and not 14lbs lighter as advertised. I will stick with the her original book. I feel this diet sets up unrealistic expectations and if anything made me feel overweight with me being so far away from HER “ideal weight” goals.
