Mainly, I was expecting them to be as described: essays. These are rather more like poems or a journal, as they have a stream-of-consciousness feel to them--not something truly written for a reader who doesn't know her. The content of them was personal in feeling yet void of personal details or any narrative. I kept wanting to find out more about her story but was left unfulfilled.
I do like poetry symbolic/esoteric type of writing, but this wasn't described properly, and I wish it would have been. I should have gotten the sample first, oops.
They ARE nicely written though and there is a lot of feeling in them, which I am sure some people will relate to. I have suffered through major challenges myself, so it's not that I can't sympathize. In fact am undergoing my own shift into a state of Awareness which is transforming to say the least. So you'd think I'd have related more, but didn't.
