I chose this solder iron for its extra heat on Antique tube radio restoration circa WWII Halicrafters S20R and EICO 625 tube tester plus Heathkit Signal Tracer. This iron is far greater than satisfactory in use. It can be controled to a lesser wattage value with my mini-variac. I have made a handsome iron rest of aluminum channel with vertical spring and damp sponge cleaner pad. It all works well together. I grew up using a heavy Weller pistol iron with trigger switch. I find this one better to use in practice. Tips can be replaced and it has a large safety hand guard. It is well designed.

I had a 35 watt soldering iron and that wasn't enough to melt solder even if you held it right up against the tip of the thing. Bought this 60 watt model and it works fine. I used it to do some soldering on my guitar (installed a new pickup) and it did the job nicely. There's a little stand that comes with it that's really handy too.

So overall I'm perfectly happy with it.

I wasn't expecting much for such an inexpensive soldering iron, but I have to say I really put this iron through its paces and it has held up fine. I recommend this product highly!

I have never used a soldering iron before, and I bought this to try a capacitor replacement on my tv. The little stand it comes with is not very sturdy but it worked. The iron had some discoloration after it was hot, but it worked great. The operation was a success! The iron worked great and the tv is fixed for about $20 including the iron!

I changed my review from 1 star to a 5 star because even though the product did not work well the new one does, the company who makes it went the extra mile to make sure i was satisfied with my purchase, so the first one did not work she assured me it was a defect and imedietly sent me a replacement and did follow ups to make sure i was satisfied, has better support than amazon itself. thanks :)

Just like the title implies, this is seriously a great product. At 60 watts, it is more than enough for modest soldering. Just buy it. Its a good soldering device.
