Just plug it into your headset jack and check your sound and you should be good. In fact, I keep forgetting I have in the jack when I actually do need to speak during remote meetings.

This thing works perfectly! My ex is stalking me and he suddenly knew way too much about my day to day life. I downloaded an app which told me when my mic, camera and location were turned on and off and wow! I an ther opposite of a tech nerd and am mor like the models on zoolander "the files are IN the computer" then I smash the screen. Embarrassing but true. Since I can't figure out how to get him out I figured I would do my best to block him. I was sceptical but im so happy. The only problem is with me. I forget it's in and I answer a call but I can't hear anything and they can't hear me and I couldn't figure out what was wrong until it suddenly hit me. Duh! Total palm in face moment! I feel a lot mor secure now. I lose it all the time because it's tiny but it comes back eventually.

This really works. The little storage case was a huge plus. Just keep in mind that when this is plugged in, you also cannot hear streaming video or any other Media audio on your mobile device (e.g., YouTube, Audible, etc.) However, you can disengage the plug just enough to allow the Media to be heard and the Mic Lock will still rest in the phone. Or you can completely remove the Mic lock and place it in the storage case (that can be attached to your phone). In summary, the item works and is easy to use. Would recommend it to my friends and family if they were looking for the functionality it provides.

The unit looks nice, feels well made and has a nifty rubber boot of sorts to protect the portion of it that inserts into the headphones/mic socket when it's not inserted. Pretty neat.

The good news is that it worked great in my iPad Air 2019 model! Inserted it, turned off bluetooth and recorded a video with me talking. There was no audio.

The bad news is that I actually bought it for my work-issued laptop, a recent model Dell running Windows 10 Pro. I recorded a video of myself talking and it completely ignored the product and recorded my voice like as though it wasn't there.

It then occurred to me that I hadn't turned bluetooth off on the PC like I had on the iPad, so I did and tried again. It still recorded my voice.

If you buy one, maybe buy only one and test it out on your devices. Then decide to return it, keep it or buy more. Just keep in mind that even if your device's stock camera app is rendered deaf by this device, that doesn't guarantee that malicious software won't ignore it and still have a listen.

At seven bucks I decided to hold onto it just in case I find a reason to use it later.

Works correctly as designed. A note: also disable your blue tooth connections on the phone. Plugging this device (or any mic device) will not prevent others from eves dropping on your bluetooth connected devices. In my case my car mic picked up and transferred sound using my androids' bluetooth connection.

I plugged the unit to my smartphone. The smartphone is supposed to believe there is an external microphone connected and disable the built-in microphones. To validate this I recorded a video with the Mic-Lock properly plugged. When I played back the video all the sound was there. I tried several times and it never blocked the microphones. Conclusion: Does not work as expected.
