4.0 out of 5 stars Messy, some colors may not be accurate
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 11, 2019
So first of all when I got it it was double bagged and while that was nice of them to keep it from getting everywhere from shipping, I would think that having a container that doesn't come open would have been better, because I spent at least 15 minutes cleaning it up off myself, the container and the counter that it got on when I opened it. the inner safety seal was not on so it got more everywhere as I had to pry it out of the cap to use the shaker and you know this stuff is turbo glitter so it's a MESS and I'll be finding it forever. But all of that would have been easily forgiven mild inconveniences if this was amazing, considering this is a very good size of mica compared to most sellers, short of buying huge bulk amounts from overseas, (and while I use a lot of it for crafts, I have no desire to own multiple pounds of single colors of mica, lol). However, it is not as shiny as the pictures show, it's a very satin type of sheen compared to other micas I've used, and it's not really very "true gold" either, it's more an orangey yellow.

EDIT: should have paid more attention to the (recent) low reviews, I probably got the batch everyone is talking about.

EDIT#2: Seller contacted me and refunded me, upgrading to 3 stars like the others who got the weird batch of gold. When I'm under less of a crunch, I'll give these another shot, people seem pretty satisfied with the other colors, so perhaps it was just bad luck. The size and price are indeed good.

10/1/19 - Update to 4 stars, I got the "Candyfloss pink" color but can't write a new review? That seems to be a shortcoming for reviewing products that share the same listing... and while it's still messy AF when I got it, that seems to just be a "buying powdered mica from amazon" thing. The color is accurate to the screen, the container is full, and it goes really well with Stuart Semple's "Pinkest Pink" powdered pigment.

5.0 out of 5 stars UNPROFESSIONAL/NEVER MIND
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 21, 2019
I ordered GOLD mica powder and got this. I’ve been looking through the other reviews and this does not look like the other gold ones people have received and then on top of that it was already opened when I unpackaged it and stuff. Highly irritated. Oh wait y’all it gets better so somebody literally put the gold mica sticker OVER the original label. The one I have is brushed copper powder and they smacked a gold mica label over it. UPDATE: I AM WRITING IN ALL CAPS SO THAT PEOPLE WILL PAY ATTENTION MORE TO THIS BUT THE SELLER CONTACTED ME AFTER I LEFT MY ORIGINAL REVEIW AND SENT ME THE CORRECT PRODUCT THAT I ORIGINALLY ORDERED SO ALL IN ALL I AM PLEASED AND THE PRODUCT IS OF VERY HIGH QUALITY. I DO UNDERSTAND MISTAKES HAPPEN BUT THE SELLER PROMPTLY CORRECTED THE ISSUE AND I GOT MY STUFF IN A ADEQAUTE AMOUNT OF TIME THANK YOU!

2.0 out of 5 stars PRODUCT HAS CHANGED - NOT AS SPARKLY + RUDE SELLER. Old reviews now inaccurate.
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 1, 2019
I loved this product. So my disappointment was intense when I went to reorder it and found it was no longer the best sparkly gold on the market. I had searched a long time to find one this good, I bought 4 bottles over the last 6 months of 2018. I didn't order again until recently, April 2019, and it is no longer the same. It looks pretty much like every other gold mica on the market now, a decent gold. Not terrible, but not the same level of shine. Is it still a good value for the price/amount? Yes, but with no way to be sure you'll get the same product on your next order, and knowing that the company is rude, it's not worth it to me personally. I found for the same price or less you can get mica from China instead, with the option to get bigger amounts so there's less restocking involved.

I have a couple big problems with this item, and unfortunately now the seller. There has plainly been a change in the ingredient/way this is made or there is no batch-to-batch consistency, which can be really bad if you're working on an art project. Imagine getting halfway through a painting, opening a new bottle, going back to painting to find the area you did doesn't match! After noticing some really bad reviews recently about not getting the right color, I thought maybe more people are having issues with this mica's sparkle level too. So I posted a question asking if any others had restock ordered this item and gotten mica that was no where near as sparkly as it was before...

Unfortunately Joseph from the Original Stationary company responded pretty unprofessionally to me. "Our mica has not changed since 2018, we have released a large number of coloured micas since then, but the gold has DEFINITELY not changed." - A flat out dismissal, no apology for the inconsistent color, basically telling me I was wrong, unlike a pro response such as "we're sorry to hear that, we'll look into it" like I was expecting. In general it's also not appropriate to ALL CAP LOCK certain words of a response, which are designed to be emphasized in a way that comes off as yelling or talking down to someone aggressively. Well, here's the photo proof, you've lost a repeat customer. I could easily tell even from the outside of the bottle it was no longer as sparkly, but I added some water and brushed it onto paper too for your reference (see pics). I hope other people find this review helpful.

----10-2019 UPDATE ---- I have removed this response from the comments below in hopes that more people will see it WITHIN the review. I have also updated the stars from 1 to 2 AFTER receiving an apology from the seller, which is a step that deserves acknowledgement. Due to some poor comment responses from other customers, I'd like to add the following --1) The assumed refund/replacement never happened. A replacement was desired, but for the unforeseeable future could not be obtained - they said they would make no guarantee to make sure it was the correct original product. Why offer a replacement if you're just offering more frustration with the color I wasn't happy with? This also implies that they know they are currently selling a different product than before (with no warning to repeat customers). They acted like they are just waiting for the dull, less sparkly, stock to be cycled through, and perhaps after a while would have the original version back again. This was overall a poor experience. Regardless of my previous happiness with their product, a bait-and-switch is deserving of a low star review --2) A negative review was only written after attempting communication with the seller and receiving rude dismissive feedback. Before leaving a review, I simply asked them if the product had recently changed. Another company rep, Joseph rudely dismissed my concerns. The other rep (Sam, shown in the comments below) only reacted with the apology after a negative review was published. --3) There are only so many steps the customer should be expected to take to attempt to fix a situation. All reviewers, including top contributors have a responsibility to leave negative reviews for negative experiences. It can't always be 5 stars and I do my best to leave honest reviews.

(FYI about leaving comments to reviews - Amazon does not notify the reviewer about comments. They stopped sending email notifications years ago. If you leave a lot of reviews, the odds that you're looking through old ones to check if someone said anything in response is time consuming and unlikely. Many reviewers will never see comments and if they do it may happen months later, as in this case when I thought about this product again much later in time.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my project
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 24, 2019
This gold mica powder was perfect in consistency and color for my project. I was trying to make bowls in the Japanese style of Kintsugi for the ladies of my women's conference. The numbers kept growing and I went from needing40 bowls to 70 bowls! What a Godsend! The Gold Mica powder adequately provided an authentic look to the bowls and the ladies LOVED the reminder that even when we're broken, God puts us back together Better Than New!
