🌟This story was short, but it definitely did it's job; it captured my heart, grabbed my attention, and (still more than a year later) has me continuing to want to read more of this series. ❇✴✳❇✴✳❇✴✳❇✴✳❇✴✳❇✴✳ SOOOOO...my hope is that Jessie G. still plans to complete and release the follow-up books in this series. [I'm crossing my fingers...☺]
👬 FYI: I was pleased to discover that in Jessie G.'s book SLICE OF LIFE 2016, she provided us with another glimpse into Micah & Garrison's life together! 💜

45-degree angle headshot of a man with gorgeous hazel eyes, look closely to see a soldier in the background. Title font is good, but could have been a little bolder so it's fade does not almost completely disappear. Nice author font and strong color choice. Synopsis is quite lengthy, but it sounds compelling and emotional. I'm a sucker for the battle-scarred hero, so I'm happy to give this a shot! I purchase this short story because I was informed that it ties to TREADING WATER which I will be reviewing next week and wanted to offer a complete review for those out there that are interested.
MICAH'S SOLDIER is a micro short story consisting primarily of one scene, but technically two. Garrison and Micah have been a team since second grade. Garrison swore to always protect Micah and after a few years serving in the US Marines, Garrison concluded he'd had to protect Micah even from himself. Five years of radio silence, Micah still loves and supports the man that broke his heart. An airport Welcome Home for a lone soldier goes askew and they are once again sharing breathing space but there are many questions to be answered before they can determine if there's anything worth salvaging.
Jessie G needs to give Micah a full-length book... omg, his personality and attitude alone were so wonderfully enjoyable and refreshing. If this were a 250-page book, it could very likely be a 5-star contender, but as it is, it's a fun one-scene snippet with plenty vague history and an implied HEA. There's an underlying depth that has so much potential to expand upon. Dialogue is strong, interactions are believable. The writing flow is fantastic, I want to read more from this author!
Overall, the only disappointment was this could have been an amazing full-length book and I wanted MORE MORE MORE. But, I loved the scene and characters!

Please purchase this book, although short it will make you feel Micah and Garry's story, and the proceeds go to a worthy cause!
Jessie G has captured the sense of melancholy experienced by Garrison for his foolish personal past actions and private demons of combat. She shows us something that until pointed out most people gloss over in their conscious thought. For all the Joyful reunions of returning service men and women, there are just as many who have no one to greet them. Some Veterans feel broken and not deserving of a happy family & fanfare.
In this opening story of the Forgotten Soldier series, we learn Garrison is one of those broken soldiers. Who had someone who was crazy about him, but he foolishly pushed away. This is a second chance story. Is Garrison deserving of one? Will he be given one by Micah, the sweet young man whose heart he broke? Once again the author shows a side of military life that isn't always highlighted - the ones Left Behind to wait. How do they bear the separation? What can they do while they wait? How do they handle the fear of the possibility of death? How does the serviceman's response to their partner, spouse, parent, child(ren) impact their deployment?
Jessie G explores all these issues and more in a story (that could easily be expanded - HINT! HINT!) that evokes all sorts of emotions. I recommend this story to everyone. Realizing the afore described difficulties and how readers might help especially at this time of Thanksgiving. I am eager to listen to the next story.

I got more info from the description than the actual book!
Should be longer- at least long enough for the smut to be included.
