Kidnapped to a world of magic, can Dayna Chrissie use forensic science to solve a royal murder…before centaurs and humans plunge headlong to war?
C.S. Lewis meets CSI when Dayna Chrissie, the LAPD’s best crime scene analyst, finds a golden medallion on a body that's been unceremoniously dumped at a construction site. At first, she doesn't think the find’s that unusual. Until that medallion’s enchantment transports her to the magical world of Andeluvia.
Dayna's been summoned out of desperation: Someone’s murdered the king, and if she can’t solve the mystery, human and centaur realms plunge headlong into war! But nobody wants peace when war offers chances for riches and glory. So Dayna ends up with a team of cast-offs: a centaur wizard with father issues, a brash griffin warrior, and the world's unluckiest magical deer.
And the trail leads where she least expects it...back home! When the evidence brings Dayna and her new friends back to Los Angeles, she must use all of her knowledge of forensics in order to solve the case.
The price of failure? A war that will kill millions and devastate Andeluvia.
Hope she works best under pressure.

Q - What makes the Fantasy & Forensics series special?
A – I’ve enjoyed epic sword and sorcery types of fantasy since I was old enough to pick up a paperback. At the same time, I’ve always been a mystery fan – specifically, of those classic thriller or suspense novels that kept you up all night to finish them.
So I wrote the F&F books as a unique mix of the two genres. Crime Scene Analyst Dayna Chrissie has to solve some nefarious wrongdoing in each book using forensic science – but in a world of sorcery and mythical creatures!
Q – Why should readers give these books a try?
A – Because you’ll get to meet a bunch of memorable characters – knights, centaurs, griffins, and magical fey deer – in the midst of intriguing mysteries filled with action, humor and heart. (Yes, I paraphrased one of my earliest reviewers, but I simply can’t put it any better than that.)
Q – Tell us more about series protagonist Dayna Chrissie - what makes her tick?
A – Dayna starts out as that person you always find at the office on a Saturday. She loves solving the mysteries that everyone else has failed to crack.
Over the course of this book and its sequels, Dayna learns that ‘working’ is not the same thing as ‘living’. So she becomes attached to her group of friends, to the point that they become like family.
A life-threatening microbe. A desperate scientist. Can she isolate the disease before terrorists obliterate the world?
Epidemiologist Leigh Austen can’t shake her lasting guilt. As the sole survivor of her team’s encounter with the Black Nile virus, Austen is tormented with memories of her colleagues' horrific deaths. But when an unknown pathogen annihilates an entire Asian village, she must bury the nightmares and step up to help prevent a worldwide epidemic.
Joined by doctors, specialists, and a retired special-forces officer, Austen travels to the hot-zone epicenter a mile beneath the city’s surface. But with a crazed microbiologist and a former Soviet soldier after the dangerous organism, this scientist’s fight to save millions of lives could quickly cost her own…
Can Austen contain the killer strain before demented monsters unleash a deadly blight?
The Devil’s Noose is the suspenseful first book in the Plague Walker Medical Thrillers series. If you like intriguing mysteries, memorable characters, and science-based fiction, then you’ll love Michael Angel’s action-packed tale.
Buy The Devil’s Noose to eradicate a microscopic threat today!
Author’s Note: The Devil’s Noose is a self-contained work and does not end on a cliffhanger. It contains a limited amount of strong language, gore, and some graphic violence. Ratings-wise, it would either be a hard PG-13 or soft R. Please decide to purchase accordingly.
Included with this novel is a special offer for the prologue novella, The Plague Walker: A Leigh Austen Short Medical Thriller as well as the next story in this series, The Reaper’s Scythe.

Doctor Leigh Austen’s ventured to all these places in a desperate attempt to stop deadly outbreaks from becoming full-bore pandemics – leaving audiences turning pages into the night, desperate for more. If you enjoy thrillers full of action, high-tech medicine, humor and a touch of romance, then this series is for you.
BONUS MATERIAL: In addition to four full-length novels, you’ll also get The Plague Walker, a prequel novella that plunges Leigh Austen into the hell of an outbreak of Black Nile hemorrhagic fever.
THE DEVIL’S NOOSE
After surviving a horrific outbreak of the Black Nile virus, epidemiologist Leigh Austen’s done her best to bury memories along with the bodies.
But when a call for help from the World Health Organization (WHO) arrives at her lab, she’s got to face her nightmares all over again. Austen’s team of scientists and armed security set off into the epicenter of the hot zone: over a mile straight down the throat of the Karakul, the deepest open-pit mine in Asia. From there, they’ll contend with an organism so deadly it annihilated the dinosaurs sixty-five million years ago.
What Leigh and her people discover will shake them to their very core.
If they survive.
THE REAPER’S SCYTHE
An unknown biological weapon wreaks havoc upon the country of Suriname. Leigh rushes to identify the pathogen amidst the madness of a city thrown into chaos. She’ll be aided by a team of private mercenaries and a disgraced Capo of the local drug cartel. Together, they must untangle the web of lies keeping a terrible truth from seeing the light of day.
And what Austen finds in the deepest, darkest valleys of the country’s rain forests will haunt her dreams.
That is, if she’s able to make it out alive.
THE BLOOD ZONE
When a team of aquanauts return half-dead and covered in festering slashes, epidemiologist Leigh Austen is called in to aid the investigation.
Austen must team up with security specialist Nicholas Navarro to piece the puzzle together. The trail leads them to an eccentric nobleman’s mountain estate, down to a state-of-the-art underseas laboratory, and then out into the boiling dark of the ocean’s depths!
And through it all, they’ll come face to face with an organism that, should it escape its watery tomb, will forever mark the oceans as off limits to humanity.
THE WILDFIRE PATHOGEN
A cargo plane slams into the Alaskan wilderness, carrying six vials of a lethal orthohantavirus. Each vial contains enough material to ignite its own firestorm of contagion.
Amidst the bodies, five vials of a catastrophically contagious virus have vanished.
This wasn't an accident. And the person responsible...has no demands!
Not all airplane crashes attract an epidemiologist's attention.
But the crash of a top-secret flight carrying deadly pathogens makes Leigh Austen sit up and take notice. The cargo plane that slammed into the Alaskan wilderness carried six vials of a lethal orthohantavirus. Each vial contains enough material to ignite its own firestorm of contagion.
And one already lies shattered on an icy hillside, its contents scattered to the wind.
Austen's pulled into the CDC's desperate efforts to contain the outbreak before it blossoms into a full bore pandemic. But the five remaining vials are nowhere to be found at the crash site. It isn't long before she comes to an unthinkable conclusion: this crash was no accident.
Security Specialist Nicholas Navarro doesn't think it was an accident either. Together, they'll have to unravel a conspiracy that stretches from Alaska's North Slope to Washington D.C.'s inner circles to stop a terrorist - one who has no demands to make.
But the clock is ticking...and they're already almost out of time.
Author's Note: The Wildfire Pathogen: A Pandemic Medical Thriller is a self-contained work and does not end on a cliffhanger. It contains a limited amount of gore, violence, and strong language. Ratings-wise, it would either be a hard PG-13 or soft R. Please decide to purchase accordingly.
