About Michael T. Miyoshi
Michael T. Miyoshi is a high school teacher and coach. He is a husband and father. He is a poet, lyricist, and writer. He writes middle grade fiction when he is not teaching, spending time with his family, or writing his weekly blog, Musings of MediocreMan. Several of his books are collections of these Musings or other writings. Contrary to great advice from many authors, he finds he cannot stick to one genre or even one medium, so his titles range from eclectic collections to screenplays to middle grade fiction.

Blog post(Click the picture to watch my Inktober 2020 video.)
I know October has long since passed, but I realized that I did not write about one of my latest creative endeavors – Inktober.
For those who have never heard of it, Inktober is just a month of making art with ink. If you did not guess, the month in question is October. Ink plus October equals Inktober. Naturally. As far as catchy names trying to get people to be creative, I like Inktober much better than I like NaNoWriMo.5 days ago Read more -
Blog postEven though I do not have them very often, I am going to miss having smelly food for lunch.
I am heading back to the school building after being away for almost a year. It will be good for my psyche. It will be good for my social (even though we are still social distancing). It will be good for my soul. It will be good just to be back at work even if the kids are not there. Yes, I have been working this whole time, but it is different teaching and working from home.

Blog post(Click the picture to watch a flower video.)
I think we all have a bit of DNA that says we need to be creative. Really. I think that we all desire to make stuff.
The desire to procreate is written in our DNA. In other words, we have a desire to have children because it is written in our DNA. It is coded in our genes. That makes sense. But even if I am the only one, I believe that there is coding in there for other types of creativity too.

Blog postI am proud of and love my Cedarcrest High School family, and I want them and everybody else to know it.
If you have ever worked in a high school, or maybe even just been in a high school, you might have heard that you should avoid the staffroom. Or at least avoid the people that hang out in the staffroom. After all, it is said that the staffroom is the most negative place in a school. Or maybe in any business. But in our building, the staffroom is not a place to be avoided. To be sure3 weeks ago Read more -
Blog postMy sister had an interesting and wonderful idea for Christmas last year (which was just a few weeks ago). She thought we should give each other 12 days of affirmations.
In case you do not know, affirmations are statements about people telling them truths about who they are. Affirmations are different from compliments in that they need to be true. Of course, most people spot insincere compliments a mile away, but that is a completely different story.

Blog postShe was the dog who loved my children
She was the dog who loved my wife
She was the dog who loved us unconditionally
Every day of her life They say all dogs go to heaven
I really hope it’s so
For I hope to see all of man’s best friends
Especially, Yukiko

Blog postwords by Michael T. Miyoshi
music by Michael T. Miyoshi & Todd Namba
I tried to write a song to say
How much you meant to me
A song of love and happiness
That I’d sing joyfully.
It would be a song from all of us
From deep within our hearts
A song to say more than your memories
Will live within our hearts.
But when I think of all the family
And friends you left behind
I can’t hold back the flood of tears

Blog postTatsunosuke Kenneth Miyoshi
(December 20, 1940 – January 31, 2016)
Tatsunosuke Kenneth Miyoshi was born on December 20, 1940 and went to meet his Lord Jesus on January 31, 2016. He went peacefully at home surrounded by his wife, his surviving siblings and their spouses (who were his siblings too, because family is family), his children and their families, and one of his nieces. He was at peace because he knew he was going home, and because he knew his family would take care of5 years ago Read more -
Blog postPraying Hands by Albrecht Dürer
This work is in the public domain.
I really really do not know
How to pray against the status quo.
Should I ask about what fashion
God would shape my every passion?
Should I ask for confirmation
On what should be my true vocation?
Or should I ask God for a vision
On what should be my worldly mission?
I suppose the point of all of these
Is that with my life God I would please

Blog postAfter a year of writing and posting six days a week, I can say that God’s conspiracy worked.
When I started this blog series a year ago, I did not really know what I was in for. I really did just want to get a bit healthier and I wanted to write every day. Other than those hopes, I had no idea what would happen.
In terms of health, I just wanted to lose about five to ten pounds. I figured if I could get down below 160 pounds, I would be happy. I did not realize that I had so m7 years ago Read more

Books By Michael T. Miyoshi
C++ with Miyoshi
Sep 2, 2018
$6.99
C++ with Miyoshi is a textbook for introductory students. It essentially contains my programming lectures and the programming problems I give to my students. This book is not a comprehensive book on C++. It is enough to get people started. I cover the fundamentals - input and output, variables and constants, branching, looping, strings, (char arrays), functions, enums, structs, vectors, (arrays), and classes. I also give a little primer on binary numbers. Again, this is not a comprehensive book on programming in C++. It is a supplement to my classroom teaching. As such it can be used as a supplement to others teaching C++ or as a starting point for those who want to learn independently. I also added a companion GitHub Repository.
Apologetics with Miyoshi: (Apologetics ≠ Apology)
Oct 24, 2020
$2.99
Apologetics is not the art of apology. It has nothing to do with being sorry. It has everything to do with reason and thought. Especially as it has to do with Christianity. The internet says that apologetics is reasoned arguments about something controversial. It seems these days that following Jesus is controversial, so I guess it fits. But my rallying cry as to why people need to study apologetics (or at least have a bit of apologetics background) is 1 Peter 3:15.
…but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect…
Make a defense with gentleness and respect. But to make a defense, you must be prepared.
…but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect…
Make a defense with gentleness and respect. But to make a defense, you must be prepared.
