Michael's Soul Mate was soooo much better than Alexander's Blood Bride. I felt I was able to connect better to the characters.
Michael has known a life without a maker. Without Alexander he probably wouldn't of survived his turn. When he turns Anna he takes his role as maker very serious. But feelings for his charge start to turn things from a friendly sibling/father role into a lover role.
Anna was left for dead. She has no memory of who she was before she was turned. Being told that not only do vampire exist, but she now is one has Anna believing everyone has lost their mind! But the men who hurt Anna aren't just going to let her walk around. They have found out she survived he attack and are now determined to finish the job.
I hope we get to learn who Lucille really is in her book, and why she is such a harda**. Maybe even get to learn more about these soul eaters who were introduced in this book.
Anna awoke in a strange room feeling like she'd been hit by a bus, wearing an old fashioned type nightgown with no memory of how she got there, and initially no memory of her own name. Even though the room was dark, she could still clearly see her surroundings, including the details of the picture frame across the room. Her sense of smell was heightened as well. Then she heard the muffled voices of two men, they must be in the next room. Before going to investigate the voices Anna ended up biting her lip, when she looked into the mirror she noticed how much longer and razor sharp her canine teeth were. Had these men done something to her teeth before bringing her there? Her mind must be playing tricks on her, right now she needed to figure out where and why she was there!
When Michael noticed Anna was awake he tried and failed miserably to explain what had happened to her. *Something about her threw him off balance. He'd lost not just his game, but his entire sense of self around her. It was infuriating.(*direct book quote). Anna couldn't believe what he was telling her, she's a vampire?!? No way, they don't exist! Anna is finally starting to get it, but not only does Michael have to teach her how to be a vampire but now they have the people that did this to her in the beginning to worry about.
To find out what happens between Michael and Anna you'll have to read MICHAEL'S SOUL MATE. I've enjoyed reading this series, and cannot wait for book 3 LUCILLE'S VALENTINE in February 2017 to be available. All books, including this one, in the Vampires of London series are standalone and can be read out of order. I received an ARC via IndieSage in exchange for an honest blog tour review.
Michael and Anna. I have not yet read the previous book, so for me this was a standalone book.
Michael is a vampire who happens to find Anna more than half dead from an attack. Michael makes a quick emotional decision to 'save her' by turning her into a Vampire like him. Michael then takes her home to where he is staying with his friends. Michael feels that since he created her that he should have feelings of a father or brother toward her...but he finds her interesting and attractive. Micheal puts up a fight to keep his feelings to himself but it hard when he is so drawn to her.
Anna doesn't remember anything of the attack or her previous life. She is shocked to learn about vampires and that she is one but she seems to take it in stride. Anna is confused about her feelings for Michael...when they get close he seems to try to make a distant between them.
So while they are questioning their feelings they are also trying to figure out what happened to her and who is responsible.
This was an enjoyable read!
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."
I enjoyed Lorelei Moone's Alpha Squad Boot Camp and Infiltrator, I jumped on the chance to try something from another one of her series and I LOVE audiobooks, so this was perfect! I found that while I liked the narrators voice, his pacing was a bit slow for me so I listened at 1.25x speed and enjoyed it much better. While this can be read as a standalone, events from the first book, Alexander's Blood Bride, are referenced repeatedly, so I would recommend reading it before Michael's Soul Mate so that you have better context. I enjoyed Anna's character, we meet her as the victim of a terrible assault, but she does not let that define or hamper her. Her skepticism over the situation was refreshing as well. I also like Michael and how he struggled with the parameters of his relationship with Anna. Lorelei Moone was able to create a complex world with its own set of rules and reality in a very short package and I really liked it. I give Michael's Soul Mate 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
