Format: Hardcover
For 50-odd years, Mick Jagger has fronted the Rolling Stones, becoming, over the decades, the ultimate rock star. Now an elder statesman of rock, Jagger keeps on strutting his stuff. Billy Altman and White Star Publishers offer up this entertaining, 208-page photo guide to the life and times of Sir Philip Michael Jagger.

Altman's book is a fairly standard coffee table tribute. It's divided into four Parts: 'You Can Make It If You Try,' 'Let It Bleed,' 'Beast of Burden.' and 'How Can I Stop?' Altman traces Jagger's transformation from a middle-class English schollboy with a yen to sing to a struggling bluesman, rock 'n' star star, film actor and international celebrity. There's not much new in terms of information but then books on Jagger number in the dozens if not hundreds.

The book's main strongpoint is the photographs. The book features many full-page color and b&w shots of Jagger, Jagger with Keef and the other Stones, in concert, on TV shows, with girlfriends and/or wives/other celebs, on film sets, partying, on vacation, etc. Concert shots seem to be in the majority and show Jagger doing what he does best, entertaining music lovers.

Stones fans will enjoy MICK JAGGER. It offers a well-illustrated tribute to a rock legend. Recommended.
