Not flush with laptop case.

Operationally it works. It sticks out 2/3 of an inch from the edge of the laptop. If this is for a Macbook Pro, why isn't it flush? Really, it's Apple's design flaw. There should have been a SD Card tray with the push to eject and push to lock mechanism. Anyway, it works, but it sticks out and will be prone to getting caught on things. I'm looking for a better designed one. Too inexpensive to return.

Like many, I liked the concept of an almost-flush SD card that I could leave installed in my MacBook for extra storage space, etc. OK, I also LOVED the really low price! But after a few days, it's clear to me that there is a quaity control problem -- and I suspect that's why for some reviewers it just won't fit, for some it won't get recognized by their computer, for some it falls apart -- and for me it was totally unreliable with my data.
I bought this with a 32gb SanDisk card to try out. We have several Mac notebooks in our household, so I tried this adapter and 32gb SanDisk micro card on all four of them: an early 2011 Macbook Pro, a 2012 MacBook Pro, a 2012 MacBook Air and and 2014 MacBook Air, All of them initially recognized the card and 32gb disk when I slid it in. Yeak!
I reformatted the SD disk to FAT32 (I got Windows on my Book, too). All seemed to go well. So I left the card & adapter in my early 2011 MacBook Pro to try it over time.
Starting with Day 2, I had problems. When I rebooted or put the Book to sleep (I have an SSD main drive), I started getting messages telling me the SD disk was 'not being ejected properly' -- even though I HAD NOT REMOVED IT AT ALL!). I rebooted, and the SanDisk would reappear. Checked w/Disk Utility, all reported good.
Then -- and this is totally unacceptable -- my SD disk formatting became corrupted!! It disappeared from my desktop and I could not remount it with Disk First Aid. So I tried taking the disk/card out and placing it into the SD card holder that came with the SanDIsk, to see if I could access it that way..Nope..
I tried putting the SD card (with the SanDisk holder) in the other MacBooks to see if they could still access it. Well, that would be too easy, dontcha know..
(By the way, there were several versions of MacOS X on these MacBooks -- 10.6, 10.9 and 10.14. All worked intially. Until the corruption...)
Anyway, just to be thorough, I reformatted the SD card again, losing the files I had put onto it (this time I tried the exFAT format; first time was FAT32). Again, it started out fine in the morning. But later iin day when I woke my Book from 'sleep' mode, I got a message again about not having ejected the card/disk properly. (Aargh!) Then told me the card/disk was "locked," and I could not save to it or alter existing files.
I removed this card holder, reverted to the larger one that came with the SanDisk, and the 32gb card popped up properly. I could access the files I had saved, and of course save to the disk, too.
So, in the end, I could not trust this card holder to keep my SD card mounted, nor trust it to not corrupt its formatting.
Easy conclusion -- Micro SD card good. Micro SD card _holde_ BAD.

Will ruin your SD Card Slot

The plastic has a slight lip where the contacts are. When you pull it out of the SD card slot, it can catch the contacts on the SD Card reader and bend them as the card is pulled out of your PC. My card reader is not unusable. Build quality is crap too. Its actually coming apart where the micro card slips in. DO NOT PURCHASE IF YOU PLAN ON REMOVING THE ADAPTER FREQUENTLY. I inserted and removed maybe 3 times and my SD card reader is now broken.

Fits perfect in a HP Pavillion Desktop

My HP Pavillion Desktop computer has a slot for a memory card that works with full size SD cards or adapters but is on the short side of them. Normal adapters stick out.

This card by YC fits PERFECT in the HP, functions perfectly too.

Build quality seems OK. I don't expect much for 6 bucks and I won't be taking the card in or out frequently either. It does seem to be a step-up from other cheap low profile cards ,because the top has an aluminum indent on it, where you can grab the card with a thumbnail for traction in order to removie the card. When it's the in the computer it looks nice too. The metal top is all that you see sticking out of the computer.

I was wary of the reviews that state that this card can destroy the memory card reader by snagging on pins. I have not experienced that, nor do I discern anything hooking onto anything as I remove the card. But it's a good thing to be aware of when you use these cards, I suppose.

I read all the reviews and decided to give this a try. I have a mid 2013 MacBook Air and this fits perfectly. There is no "lip" that gets stuck and it can be easily removed. Blends perfect with my case. I can't speak to other MacBook air year and models, but if you have a Mid 2013, buy it. I installed a 64gd Sandisk Extreme mini card with it and everything works flawless.

Beats a full sized micro SD card adapter which really stuck out of my laptop, at least with this adapter it only protrudes by about 0.7cm as compared to 2cm with a full sized one. I have scoured Amazon looking for one that has a small width but this is probably the best one, I blame the laptop designers.

Anyway, this adapter works very well, I'm able to read/write files to the micro SD card at normal speed which isn't hampered by this adapter. The quality of the product is firm and solid, the micro SD card fits in at the side and the card smoothly goes into my SD card slot on the laptop. There is a curved silver edge to this adapter which I believe is meant for the Mac systems, I assume it would look rather neat if it was more or less flush with the frame of the laptop.

Overall, good product, works well and is very good value for money.

Ich bin grade extrem angetan! Haette echt nicht gedacht dass es funktioniert, mein Macbook Air ist das Modell: A1466.
Mir war ehrlichgesaft Nifty und co zu teuer, deswegen dacht ich trotz schlechter Bewertung ich probiere es halt, schlimmstenfalls schicke ichs zurueck. Naja Fazit, es klappt wunderbar, steht bissche weg aber verkraftbar (sonst wuerde man den Adapter wohl nicht so leicht rausbekommen), nach dem Neustart muss mann den Adapter nicht nochmal rein tun,- also wird sofort angezeigt und erkannt!
Ich hab momentan eine Sandisc Micro Sd Karte 32GB drinnen, hole mir aber heute eine Transcend 128 GB micro SD, also ich berichte weiter sollte die 128 GB Karte nicht funktionieren!
Absolute Empfehlung!
Sollte irgendwas kaputt werden, gebe ich hier bescheid, der Adapter mit SD Karte wird rund um die Uhr im Macbook sein und das Macbook seeehr viel verwendet :) yaiy ich freu mich

Update: 128 GB Transcend Micro USB funktioniert auch :)
