After reading this book I really came away from it feeling like it had a similar attitude, but towards managing your life. Making big changes is hard, but by breaking them down into small, clear steps you know you can do and making a habit out of them, you really can effect massive change and stop wasting your time on things that aren't your end-goal. Killing bad habits is just as hard, if not harder, than fostering new ones, but the method is still the same--steady, small steps. Breaking things down. Figuring out what's important to you and what's not.
After reading this I found it a lot easier to turn away the distractions that kept me from my passions and my goals, I was able to get more out of my creative side on a regular basis, and all of those things have improved my general mood on a day to day basis. When you feel like you're doing what you're supposed to be doing, like you're working towards something meaningful, it really changes your daily outlook on life. It can be a confusing road getting to that place of wisdom, however, and I felt that this book really helped me along the way in that regard.
After five nights, many smiles and genuine emotional mining, I've created my P.H.T..
What is "my P.H.T.", you ask?
If you desire change, meaningful and potentially life-long, then buy this book and get crackin'!
Micro Habits brought back to mind another beneficial book I’ve enjoyed reading many times: 'The Power of Your Subconscious Mind'. Dutton’s book is better! It’s succinct, clear and offers simple and practical steps and practices for working with the subconscious to see hindrances and methods to move in the opposite direction. From the very first pages, I was immediately feeling relief and a sense of optimism for building success.
I highly recommend this book.
The author draws from the discipline of cognitive behavioral psychology, her own spirituality and personal stories. She shows how to have a power morning, peaceful evening, and restful sleep. Her self-help program is designed to avoid backsliding by developing easy and focused incremental steps Micro Habits in just 5 minutes a day. This book is destined to be a Micro Classic.
I look forward to using this book in areas I desire to gain more momentum, and I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to improve their life.
