In terms of complaints, nearly everyone mentions the battery cover. I almost went crazy over this one, partially because the instructions did not include a diagram of the mouse and where the magic battery release button would be. I guessed (correctly) that it would be the grey button in the center, but could not get the cover to come off. Searching online, I found that Micro Innovations has a PDF of the instructions containing a diagram ( [...] page 8). Reassured that I was on the right path, I pushed the button down and toward the back of the mouse while pulling on the cover and viola, I had access to insert the batteries. I think that the instructions could have been more clear.
Another criticism of this mouse is that the "off" switch on the mouse is difficult to use. Not only is the switch difficult to reach, it is a bit stubborn to move and feels more likely to break than budge.
Overall, this isn't a bad mouse for the money. If you don't want to spend too much on a premium wireless unit, then I suggest you take a look at this one.
Also, it's rather susceptible to interference, and so the receiver needs to be placed relatively close to the mouse, especially if using a CRT monitor. I had problems with this when the monitor was between or even near the path of the signal from the mouse to the receiver, and the mouse was unusable if more than about two feet away in this situation. I fixed it by using a USB extension cord and moving the receiver close to the mouse, without the monitor in the path of the signal.
Furthermore, this mouse is very small, and it takes some getting used to. I don't mind it, and whenever I use a normal sized mouse, it feels HUGE. :) The size may be an issue for some people, as it is much smaller than a normal mouse.
Unless you have a pallet of AAA batteries (this thing takes two) and teeny tiny hands, don't waste your money on this mouse. Buy something decent that doesn't chew through batteries so quickly.
As a quick note: to remove the battery cover, there is no button that releases it, regardless of what the instructions say. Just use your thumb to push gently down on the silver "button" to move it a little lower, then push back on the black part of the cover, and the cover should snap loose and slide off, revealing the batteries...trust me, if you want to use this mouse, removing the battery cover will be a priority. ;)
The other complaint is the size. This thing is tiny. Using the third button (pressing the wheel down) is a problem but functional. On the plus side my five year old loves this mouse over regular sized mice. It fits her hand perfectly.
Overall, I like it and use it on a daily basis. It doesn't have a "cheap" feel like some mice. Surprising good for kids because of it's size.

Really it isn't that difficult once you see how it's done. It does not, however work on all surfaces.Read more
