A black tab for ejecting a mounted mSATA card broke off immediately the first time I used it. Cards can still lock into place, however, so not really a big deal in my usage (cloning drives outside of a case). For anyone wanting to use this to mount inside a computer or laptop, be careful.

I have a "toaster" (2-bay external drive mount) that I use to clone drives. This card allows me to clone from a SATA to an mSATA and vice versa using this toaster. However, when I use a USB-to-SATA connector to attempt to connect an mSATA drive via USB to a working computer/laptop, the drive is not recognized by Windows. (I haven't tried another OS, yet.) If you want to connect mSATA drives externally via USB, get a different mount. Maybe one with a USB port already built in.

What can I say about an adapter board? either it works or it doesn't. My mSATA pcb snapped into it without a hitch. The only problem I encountered was with 2.5" enclosures - the adapter board just wouldn't fit. After brief inspection I figured out I could carve some of the plastic off of the 2.5" case, and after a few carve-see-if-it-fits, the board fit just fine. I tried several different 2.5" enclosures and the adapter board just wouldn't fit, so I started carving. No problems once I got it to fit the case.

Worked but not out of the box

It worked as advertised, but not out of the box, The back half of the ssd holder was improperly soldered, and so msata ssd(s) wouldn't fit. After some soldering it worked fine, but I wouldn't trust it for any high-steaks machine. The pick and place machine did an especially pour job, and many of the contacts on the standard sata connector are almost shorted together due to misalignment. Just by looking at it I am surprised it works, and yet it does.

Update: I just tried mounting it on a hard drive sled (I previously had it free-floating in my system), and it turns out that the mounting holes on the adapter don't quite line up with the standard 2.5 inch hdd. I ended up using zip-ties.

All in all, I would not recommend this product. If I didn't own a soldering iron it would have been unusable.

My laptop died rather unexpectedly and I needed a way to quickly recover the project I had been working on. None of the other PCs I had access too had an mSata slot as everything appears to have gone to m.2. I was able to get this quickly shipped to me so I went for it. The msata card pops right in with no screws needed. The chip size is that of a normal 2.5 hdd, so it could fit into any standard laptop bay. I ended up putting this in a external HDD caddy and it worked great!

This product works. I plugged in my mSATA drive and now it works like a SATA drive. No firmware or software change needed for the adapter. Simple plug and play. I didn't conduct any thorough speed tests to verify any performance issues. But for my purposes there's been no issues.

I bought an OCZ mSATA drive for my Acer Iconia Tab Windows tablet. I wanted to update the firmware on the OCZ drive. Unfortunately, the OCZ update process won't allow a firmware update if the drive is actively being used as a primary drive (this is a terrible design on OCZ's part). With this adapter I was able to pull the mSATA drive out of the tablet, mount it to my desktop PC, and then perform the firmware update from my PC.

I would have given this a 5, but we had to adjust the metal "feet" with needle-nose pliers to keep the micro drive in there. It pops out if you don't do it. Not a big deal, but there was as learning factor since there were no instructions. This was better than the other SATA Adapter that I purchased from Amazon, which pops up as an alternative.

We build equipment that uses a lot of embedded processing products. But this is very easy to use even for a novice. Standard dual SATA cables work well with this.

Working in HDD bay of my Lenovo P50
