I'm pretty happy with this one and can recommend it to anyone who is looking for one to put on your X100.
This screen protector comes with a cleaning cloth, two dust removers, and two protective films (one set for practice and the other for final application). All of great quality. The installation process does not need any liquid solution. Clean your table, clean your LCD screen, apply the dust remover and peel it off. Apply the film, scrub off the bubbles (there were very little), and it's done. The film is a hard and thick "card" - tiny dusts will not create any persistent bubble (unlike some other self-adhesive protectors).
The size of the protector is about 0.8mm smaller than the screen in both dimensions. The manufacturer said this is for easy alignment - I would say 0.4-0.5 mm margin will look better. The film does downgrade the image quality for a noticeable amount. This knocks off one star on the very competitive market of protective screens.
As this time (May 16 2011), this is the only available screen protector for X100.
I kinda got these without even thinking about it. I was looking for a 49mm quality filter for my x100 and I saw this with the filter and battery as a package and I just ordered it.
It comes with two films, they aren't flimsy and they are packaged well with a giant micro fiber cloth as well as two sticky strips for dust and lint removal.
Installation was very easy and I even screwed up the alignment the first time but, was able to peel it up and re apply it without getting bubbles or lint under it.
The film has an oleophobic coating on it which resists oils so fingerprints and face juice won't stick to it as easily and it cleans off without much fuss.
The film is pretty clear, although I can tell it's removing some contrast from the screen its on... but really its not a big deal. I think these have to be one of the best protectors out right now.
The protector is cut a little bit smaller than the actual screen size. Its not a deal killer as it still covers 99% of the screen. Its not the thickest protector but just the right amount of thickness where it will apply without air bubbles but thin enough where it won't catch on your leather case. It does apply easily without any air bubbles. It is tricky because you really have one shot in getting it right and it applies very quickly. I'm pretty anal about dust particles trapped underneath so they help combat this by providing a sheet of sticky paper. Think of it as a giant blank sticker. You would stick this over sized sticker on the screen and lift it off. All the dust will be stuck on the sticker. Then you would lay the protector on and viola, your screen would be protected.
The screen is also coated to resist greasy finger/nose prints so thats a big plus. I've only had it on for the past few weeks so I can't comment on the durability.
Highly recommend on getting this to help save your screen and also the resale value!
UPDATE April 18, 2014: It's been a few months now since I have installed the screen protector and it's still looking great. No peeling corners and still very clear. Just some faint hairline scratches on it from my recent vacation. It appears that my shoulder strap dangles the camera around my leather belt area and with all the walking I did on my vacation, it just rubbed some fine scratches on the protector. Better on the protector than the actual screen! Still very pleased with this.
I've applied similar products to iPhones and iPad and was a little worried about how easy it would be to lay this onto the LCD and not have air bubbles or the obvious, tale tell signs of a screen protector. The installation could not have been any easier. There is an instruction sheet provided with the protectors and a link to a video if you prefer a visual set of instructions.
They provide you with a nice big lens cleaning cloth and a cleaning solution that you use to clean off the screen before applying the protector. The film was cut to fit the Fuji screen perfectly and it seemed to apply itself, almost by magic. It laid down perfectly with no air bubbler (probably because it's nice and thick compared to other protectors). The application, once complete was perfect. It's hard to tell there is a screen protector on the LCD at all. And the best part is that they give you (2) screen protectors. I guess this is so you can put on a new one later, but I gave the second one to a friend.
After spending so much money on a nice camera, it's an easy decision to buy a display protector and gives you peace of mind. I'd much rather replace a display film than an LCD screen!
