I ordered this to replace the USB portion of the charger for my Nook Color. The Barnes and Noble standard equipment is crap. Although the charge indicator on the Nook Color reads that the device is not charging when using this cable, it is indeed charging. So far the cable has out-performed the original!

Here's my only caution for cable buyers no matter who the seller or the brand. There are cables like this that handle only data (like you would need to remove pictures from a camera to a PC). There are cables like this that don't do the data part, but do work for charging your device. Lastly there are cables like this that do both, and in many cases there is no physical difference, though this "does it all" type has more wires within and could have a larger diameter. So:
1. Make sure you know which kind it is you need (or go for the does it all type, no harm in that)
2. When you get it, since it may look no different than other cables you have, keep it segregated and know what it does or doesn't do.
3. Or do like me, buy a high quality combination type(that does it all) from a quality manufacturer and keep only those around, tossing out the others to save yourself some confusion.
4. Having talked with varied technical support services, if you are going to use your cables for "data" (i.e. to connect an outboard hard drive to a PC, etc.) then don't buy one of those longer than 6 feet, and buy the shortest you can get by with when data is involved. Shorter is better when it comes to data.
5. If a manufacturer says or offers "sheilded" then all the better.

This product charges at half the rate of the cables that came with my phone and some that I bought at Best Buy. I wrote in to advise of the issue and was told that there was nothing wrong with my cables and that I shouldn't compare their products to others on the market. I advised that I felt my products were defective and wanted return labels. I was advised I could ship back at my own cost since they felt nothing was wrong. I was also given the impression that if I kept pushing the issue then they would charge me the 25% restocking fee, which is disclosed but hidden in a special return policy under the regular return policy. This is a poor product with poor customer service to go along with it. I would suggest spending a couple of extra $ and get some good quality cables elsewhere.

This cable does charge the Nook Color, it will not show the progress or that it is charging, when you unplug it it shows the increase of battery but it took 7 hours to go from 25% to 69%.... you be the judge.

I ordered three of these cables for the purpose of connecting my cell phone and tablets to my computer for the transfer of data and the charging of the phone and tablets. After a few uses, where the cable had a bend in it at either end, the insulating sleeve detached exposing the wires. Shortly after that the wires' insulation cracked. After the first cable followed the course above and the second began showing signs, I placed shrinkable tubing over the connector and the wiring at the micro USB end to provide the extra strength So the remaining two cables have not failed.
