Update: Our clever raccoons were smart enough to get around the view field, so I bought another one and cross-positioned them to cover more area. That did the trick!
INSTRUCTIONS & COMPUTER EXPERIENCE
One thing I really liked about this item is that it came with good instructions! Easy-to-follow instructions made the setup quick & painless. You don't have to be a computer whiz to figure it out, but you do need the right adapter & microSD card. You'll need a basic understanding of how to download sound files onto your computer.
STUFF YOU'LL NEED
1. You will need a microSD card to plug into the device to upload noise /song files. You can find them on Amazon or buy one at Radio Shack like I did.
$6.59 from Amazon Prime Kingston 8 GB microSDHC Class 4 Flash Memory Card SDC4/8GBET
$9.99 from Radio Shack
2. To get noise/song files from your computer to the microSD card, you'll need an adapter, either a USB to microSD cable or a microSD to regularSD adapter like I used ($9 at Radio Shack). My Macbook has a regularSD slot.Read more ›
The cool thing about this unit is you can load an MP3 to it. The sound turned out really good. The speaker does a great job too. It's no subwoofer but you can hear things clear and it gets pretty loud.
I would recommend this product.
I'll probably buy more soon.
I've changed the sounds a few times with no problems. The sound is a bit on the loud side, but I adjust that by toning down my input accordingly (I use Audacity).
You have to provide your own chip, but I figured on that so it was no problem.
I'll probably buy a couple more...
The unit itself is compact enough, feels solid, and has performed well intesting. It would be great to have an easier process from swapping audio, and more capacity / features, but alas, it is what it is, and for the money, it seems like a good value. I wasn't able to find anything similar in the same price category.
